I have wanted a scooter all my life, and my dream is about to become a reality! ;D What I'm dreaming of is a Vespa, but they are WAY out of my price range. I've pretty much decided on either a Lance Vintage or Venice. I've heard a lot about Scootersfactory from this site, but I found better prices on another site, www.SkedaddleScooters.com. Skedaddle offers prices about $300 lower than Scootersfactory, so I'm wondering if I'm missing something . . . Does anyone out there know anything about Skedaddle? Any other tips you have for a first-time scooter buyer will also be appreciated. Can't wait to get my scooter and get on the road!

Hi there, We own two Lances. purchased from S/F. How long ago did you look? Lance is raising prices currently about 100-300 bucks. Just about all other sellers are distributors for S/F who is the major importer of Lance. Most of them are respnding inkind to the price raise. I do not know Skedaddle but they are most likely a distributor for S/F. I CAN tell you that S/F has a pretty good rep on this site, and our own experience has been quite positive. Lance is made by Znen (factory group in China) and their line includes Fly, Viva, and Bandit. They have a good name for the type of scoots they are (China imports). You may want to check them out too. There are many other bikes reviewed and discussed here so use the search function. Much depends on your needs, how you'll use the scoot and for what purposes. Make sure you get the right fit for you. Try some test rides. You'll need to get a permit and endorsement suited to your state. That means tests and I also recommend a riders course. Safe riding is the name of the game. Don't forget riding gear (helmet, gloves, boots, a MC jacket and perhaps pants) as well as insurance. All extra costs to remember, including your fees to get legal and title and plate the bike. The link to Scooter World Mag on this site will show you a great book "Scooters for Idiots". It is under twenty bucks and is a bible of sorts for those new to the world of scooting. A great investment--we have one and use it a lot! Do your homework and ride safe, Bless you, Tom

I just ordered a Vintage from ScooterDynasty.com So far their service has been good though it really hasn't been put to the test except for a few inquiry emails & phone calls. They also offer financing which for sealed the deal for me. I have the money, but I didn't want to part with it all in one sum. This way I can break it up over 6 months.
I don't recall hearing anything negative about SkedaddleScooters.com . Just realize they charge for a MSO.

I know it sounds silly, but I would not order from anyone that calls their scooters mopeds. A lot of on-line sellers of scooters have never even seen or ridden one...
Just a pet peeve of mine...

I am with you Big Guy. I am not sure why dealers do this, but many do. I know of several who at least call their scoots "moped/scooters". In Ohio there is quite a distinction by the BMV or scooters (considered as motorcycles) and mopeds. Tom

I think they might do it for the search engine keywords, but even so, it's just plain silly to call something by the wrong name.

I bought my Lance Duke 250 from skedaddlescooters.com. So far they have been okay to deal with but I have'nt had any real problems yet. When I reveived my MSO papers (the same day the scooter arrived) they were from the scootersfactory. I guess S/F profit margin must be pretty good if someone else can sell scooters through them for less money than they sell for. I did call skedaddle scooters for a problem with a warped front brake rotor and they refered me to someone by the name of Brian at S/F and he said he would send me a new rotor. So far I am still waiting for the rotor but its only been a couple of days. I almost bought the vintage first but I didn't think it would be fast enough to ride on the main highway's that I need to ride on. I now have around 450 miles on my scoot and it has been no problem at all. I would recommend a Lance scooter to anyone looking for a good quality chinese scooter.

I just found out today that Lance is backordered on black Vintages so either wait for that color or pick another. The red & the champagne are pretty nice looking.

I'm stuck on the decision between a Vintage & a Venice... Can anyone help with the major differences? I am looking to use it to commute on secondary roads in Northern CA. About 25 miles round trip...

Most likely they are the same basic scooter with a different shell and a few different little extras between each. Sounds like either will serve you well. There are several people here in the forum who are using the Lance 150s for such use. Lance is a good make of China bike from Znen, with good reviews here. We love ours. Who are you buying from? Good luck in your choice, Tom

I'm looking at purchasing from motortoyshop.com... they are out of Oregon. Called up there this am and got a lot of questions answered... they seem to be very competative(sp) in price and since they are fairly close, quicker delivery!!!

Thanks for the info. I just ordered my 250 last night, can't wait for it to get here. I was previously considering the Vog, but I read too many technical probs. with it in here. How many MPG do you think it will get, reading different things on different websites, 40-60 is a bit low isn't it? Don't most scoots get at least 60? Thanks.

I needed the scooters for Real Estate promo that I'm doing in Newort Beach this weekend.
