Or not.
Hello everyone.
Long time scooter rider, but new to this particular forum.
I'll try to be brief. Male, 39, Married w/kids, Las Vegas.
Back in the day, I was a bicycle messenger in Washington DC and NYC. Back before the fax machine and email when we could actually make good money.
Moved to LA and bought a Kymco 50cc and a Honda Nighthawk 750cc. Had to sell one, sold the Nighthawk. Scooter was 10x more fun and practical.
I hate, loathe and despise cars.
Obviously I have a large amount of 2 wheeled experience. The caveat is that I always lived in the inner-city, and always had to have someone work on the bikes for me (I have never had a workspace and/or mechanical knowledge). You can't work on your stuff when it is parked on the street or in a public parking garage.
Now I live in Las Vegas. I live a few blocks from the strip. Just bought a 2007 Tank Sporty 150, but it's been a mechanical headache so far. Yes, I know ... what did I expect. I actually expected the 2007's to be better, people told me I was nuts to buy a Kymco in 2001, so I have always gone against the grain a bit. Might be trading the Tank for a used TGB, not sure yet (thread about this in main forum). I still live in a large hi-rise with a garaged parking space and cannot work on my own bike, so I am still dealer-defendant for work. Probably always will be. I am a mechanical moron. Luckily the dealer is 3 miles away.
Anyway, that's my intro.
I hope it wasn't as painful boring for you to read as it was for me to type.
Later.

Hi Rex, I'm a noobie here, too. I have a Kawasaki ZR-7S. Don't have a true scooter yet, but I'm working on the wife........ ;D . After all, I would like for her to have her own scooter to ride when practical(read: when it's not real cold, raining, or she doesn't have groceries/large packages to bring home), since gasoline seems destined to hit $4/gal by mid-summer. I've heard good things about the TGBs on the web, and I've talked with Cobra Power Sports www.cobrasales.com/scooters.htm a few times. TGB's are made in Taiwan, and quality is supposed to be significantly better than the mainland Chinese scoots, nearly on par with Kymco. TGB R9 150cc and Sunset 150cc scooters are sold by a Louisiana dealer I know for $2300-$2400. He sells quite a few ATVs made by TGB, and he says the quality is very good. He hasn't sold a lot of TGB scooters, but the few he has sold have given good service. Jon(in central Louisiana)
