Would anyone be interested in helping organize a spring rally that would be held in or near the smoky mountains. We could stay at cades cove or at Gatlinburg and ride the mountain areas

No one interested? I have some basics planned but I don't want to go any further if no one is going to come.

I might be. Not sure if I can have a scoot by then though. How does your lance hold up?

I did a ride last April and it was a bit early. We've got a group getting together in Front Royal, VA, and are planning to ride the length of Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway starting on Memorial Day. We'll finish when we finish (one of the joys of retirement). Anyone who would like to join us for all or part of the ride is very welcome.

Anyone interested if we do this in may? I would like to stay at the cades cove campground and ride Cades Cove rd all the way over to Gatlinburg. I would also be interested in heading down parsons branch to the tail of the dragon...but I hear the TN hwy patrol have it on serious lockdown. I was thinking a weekend in may...23rd maybe or the 30th. Anyone interested?

There is the Amerivespa weekender coming up from Thursday, July 24th, through Sunday the 27th. Check it out at this link. It might just be what you're trying to do. It's in Chattanooga this year and is an all weekend event, including riding the tail of the Dragon... A bunch of us from New Orleans are going up for the weekend. -Rich

I was under the impression that modern or non italian scooters were not all that welcome. Maybe someone has mislead me.

I Went to a club meeting in knoxville...a vespa club. and they said it was ok to ride with them now, but I would need to get a Italian scoot to join. I never went back. That could have been just that guy being a jerk though. It put me off of any Vespa club and I guess I associated it with this event.
I think I am going to preregister, I can't seem to find the form online though.

I'm guessing that a Vespa club is just that, for Vespas... but this is a scooter event that takes place once a year, sponsored by a Vespa club. It's more of a scooter social than a club meeting.
I guess it's sort of like if you had a Ford Mustang club, and someone wanted to join with a Pinto... probably not appropriate.
We are heading up there with different scoots, like Vespa, Kymco, Honda, Suzuki, Genuine, Yamaha, and yes, Chinese!
PM me your cell number and I'll send you mine. You can come and hang and ride with us misfits if you want!

Oh, and you can't pre-register just yet. I think the pre-registration doesn't start until May. When it opens, they'll be a link on the site.

OK seriously thinking about this one. I would probably put the scoot in the truck for the ride there since it's 4+ hours. But sounds like a lot of fun to me! ;D

I'm familiar with the area and there is some great scenic spots all through Chattanooga and surrounding areas. However, the Interstates there scare the heck out of me even when I'm in a car... And I'm a born and bred Atlanta driver. I want to keep an eye on this as I feel that it might be a great way to get into scooter fever.

Yes, I know, I am already registered and it looks like I'll have extra meal tickets... I don't think my wife is going to make it Anyway, most of the guys from New Orleans are trailering up... Now that I can, I might dust off the old Piaggio, put some fluids in her and ride up to get the cobwebs out of her! I'm still deciding what to ride and how to go... I would like to have one other person to ride with from here though. -Rich

Oh! N Alabama! You up for it? -Rich I'm wanting to, but before I commit, I want to see hew comfortable I am on the 300 after a week or two of riding locally. The interstates around Chattanooga are nightmares as they seem to be under constant construction and congestion. that being said, I will keep lurking here and if all goes well with my scoot will probably make the trip.
