Maybe Grapevine Texas would work, or some place around there. The City has taken over the State park and campgrounds at Lake Grapevine, and they have a nice recently remodeled pay camping area. But then no shenanagans and stuff, so maybe that wouldn't be good. I doubt they'd be happy with too much drinking, drug users, etc. I don't think I would work out as a coordinator as no one has ever come to anything I hosted before anyway.

LOL @ earl....I'm guessing our median age puts most of us out of heavy drug usage. And hey Grapevine is a consideration after all it would be in near the middle of your region. And BTW coordinate it anyway the worst that could happen is you would have to drink the beer and eat the food.

I know there are a bunch of us New Englanders and we could put on a good showing at a Rally. Most of them are in the Boston area... perhaps Central Mass like Worsester as a Rally point and a ride on some back roads in Northern MA. That way CT, VT, NH, ME, RI, eastern NY could all make it with no more than an overnight for any of them. We could plan a day ride, a dinner, and an overnight for those that wished to do the evening thing. MORE BEER! Held on a Sat. I could easily attend something of this nature. Provided I can get a new scoot by then. If not I'll either A. Bring the Moped or B. Borrow my buddies Harley or C. ride (*means female dog*) on Daves Super Kymco 500 LOL

For people living in this part of the country, and the way attendance usually works in music festivals I've been part of for more than ten years now.... maybe partly because of the particular highways that connect, and also because the Mississippi is a natural dividing line, it's very hard for me not to think of IL, WI, MI, IN, and the western half of Ohio, as a region. I think that from Youngstown east, Ohio probably has more ties to the eastern states. But we're definitely way more midwestern in this area with more ties to Chicago by far than Boston, NY, Philly, or many other places that map puts this part of the midwest together with. I should think that somewhere around Morris, IL would be a nice place for a rally in this part of the country.

All great suggestions! Right now we have 28 votes out of over 600 members. Now I realize some just wont be involved and based on other events I have planned that would be about 25%. Another 25% are will not make a decision and end up bopping themselves on the forehead later. There will be another 10-15% that are on the fence so that leaves us with about 35% that we likely will hear from eventually. All that said, I am going to Deadline the poll effective March 15th. Once we have a decent representation we will take it to the next level eg: having the regions come to a concensus as to who will represent them and make their region ScootDawgs officially.
VOTE PEOPLE...VOTE!

The Smokies are (is?) a beautiful area with lots of campgrounds around Pigeon Forge (Dollywood) and Sevierville and Townsend with some great roads to ride in the area. A good selling point to the spouse is to take your vacation (or part of it) and spend a few days at the local attractions as family time. I used to do this a lot when I took my street rod to rod-runs. Also, Chattanooga has a lot to offer and is less than 100 miles from the Smookies. Thats my two cents worth. Art

If you're hoping to hear from 35% of active members, I'm pretty sure that would be no more than 65 members. I just went through the member list and counted everyone who ever did three posts or more and it was almost exactly half... 300 members. Now I know that there may be some new members that have only made one post yet who may become the next SuperDawg, but there are almost always a bunch of members that posted a few questions or had a fleeting interest that you never hear from again, and often once active members whose interests suddenly take them in another direction never to be heard from again. Optimistically, I think there may be as many as 200 recently active members, so your poll probably isn't doing too bad so far.

Yeah, I was revisting my figures. They are based on online participation numbers. Really I think if we get 50 people responding I think the concensus can be made. As ScootDawg continues to grow I think that likely we will realistically gain 1 to 1.5% of the newly registered members as "active" members.
It really doesn't matter if we start out with fewer members in any given region because it will be those members that join as a ScootDawg Club that will be inheirently more active anyway.
Besides it will grow! Gotta bark like a big DAWG right?

I see we have a grand total of 4 votes for the Northwest so far. Unless someone else wants to otherwise, I say lets do the NW rally in Boise. Maybe take a ride up to the state park at Lucky Peak Reservoir for a barbecue. I'll get with Tankcommander and see if he wants to help coordinate.

Just wanted you guys to know I am watching this but not wanting to influence it until it looks like the numbers are there. If we can get 30 dawgs ready to go, I'm in....no matter where. Then we post on all the clubs and forums to bring more. Of course some of you with big mouths will have to come through and help organize. ;D

After examining the map more and seeing responses from NorthEasterners... which I certainly wouldn't include Indiana as part of, I would like to propose a "mid-east" region consisting of Lower MI, IN, OH, KY, WV, and Virginia. The UP of MI probably has easier access to the Mid-West region. A good, fairly centrally located location for a Mid-East region would be Chillicothe, OH... the first Ohio capitol, located in the foothills of the appalachians, which has several OH scenic routes that go through or very near to Chillicothe, as well as one of the larger Indian Mounds structures in OH. If this were done, and he wants to get involved(and I'd almost bet on it) Cathouse and I could work together on co-ordinating something for that region.
If the NE region is left as is on the map, it'd probably be better to have someone from PA or western NY state coordinate, as they'd know more about the area and resources in what would be a central location for the whole geographical range that would encompass.

Dennis,
The divisions (such as they are) came from a corporate structuring site. We certainly can move the regions around a bit. In fact we can do anything the collective wants. Sounds like Star Trek..."you will be assymilated".

Depending on the time and place (read: late summer 2007), I might be in for anywhere in the East. I just voted on the SE, thus tying the representation for my geographic area with the NE. I'm still a newbie here, but it would be nice to meet some of the dawgs and really understand scootering better.

I should have thought of this when I posted earlier. I live in Nashville, TN and will be doing some commuting up and down the Natchez Trace in the summer. If you haven't ridden the Trace, I highly recommend it. It's a great, quiet road that runs from Nashville to the Gulf Coast. It's all a National Parkway, so it's protected. The Trace has rolling hills, a few exciting curves and some of the most peaceful scenery in the South. The speed limit is 50mph all the way, so it deters the cutthroat drivers. There are a lot of deer and elk, but they are usually not too much of a problem if you ride carefully. As for setting up a rally, there are some fantastic historic towns up and down the road, there are campsites and hotels at various intervals. The total distance is about 450 miles, and you can ride all or a part of it if you want. I will confess that I have only driven the trace in my car and ridden several miles on my bicycle, but it is one of my preferred drives any time of the year. FALL is BREATHTAKING, though. Just a thought. I've never been to a rally, so I have no idea what that would entail, but I'd be happy to work on one with someone who has experience...

You sure are right about the Trace-we pulled our 5th wheel from Tupelo to Nashville last summer and it is a beautiful ride---just cruising at 45 to 50 mph, lots of pulloffs and scenic vistas and no truck traffic. Plus, everyplace we stopped other drivers were always friendly and recommending places they had stopped, etc. Also, the Loveless Cafe at the end in Nashville has the best biscuits and gravy anywhere. Snoop would you be willing to be the coordinator for ScootDawg Northwest? Perhaps you could pull it together there? If so, you will need to contact those in that region to start planning rides ect.

Hey Snoop,
I checked out the website-very nice. I love the layout!
So, where in Idaho is Lucky Peak Reservoir? Is it anywhere near Brundage Mountain? I've been wanted to check out Payette & Brundage Mountain-my relatives from way back when were the Brundage's of Brundage Mountain. I've never met any of them, but it would be fun to see it.
Thanks,
Manx in Milwaukie Oregon!

Ok, I have been kinda hit and miss with the Main Dawg. He wants to keep rules to a minimum so that all regional clubs are free to do what they want. Lee has been very busy and I will post our thoughts about the clubs as soon as he has time to go into depth with me and Aaron.

Thanks for your patience.
