This just in from one of my members:

Greetings all,
As many of you know, I am very active in the Motorcycle Awareness Campaign ( www.macorg.com ) and also serve on the Louisiana Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Committee ( www.lamcsafety.org/ ), which is an advisory committee to the Office of the Governor regarding motorcycle and scooter safety and rider education. My main goal is to insure that the interests of scooterists are represented and heard.
For the 3rd year, the Governor has declared May "Motorcycle Awareness Month", and again for the 3rd year, a kick off rally will be held on the steps of the State Capitol at high noon on Sunday, April 27th. Both Governor Jindal and Baton Rouge Police Chief Leduff will be among the guest speakers. The rally will be held to 1 hour. There will be both TV and media coverage. All motorcyclists and scooterists are invited and encouraged to attend. A large group of interstate capable bikes, motorcycles and scooters, will be departing at 11 am from the parking lot of Hobby Lobby at I-12 and O'Neal Lane here in Baton Rouge. You need to have at least a 200 cc scoot to ride with this group.
If we get enough scooterists that want to ride as a group, and/or we have any scoots less than 200 cc's, I feel certain I can entice the management of Vespa of BR to open up, and provide some refreshments and a convenient launch point for us, so that we can ride as a group using the surface streets and staying off the Interstate.
Following the rally, an open house with food and non-adult beverages, and I believe live entertainment, will be held at Harley Davidson of Baton Rouge and everyone is invited to come.
Lets get a big group of scooterists together and show that we are a growing part of the motorcycle community and that we too are concerned about the safety and welfare of our fellow riders, both scooters and motorcycles. If you can make this event, please let me know by replying back to this thread or sending me an e-mail. I will keep everyone up to date as this develops.
