Yup, that is right. I just got a bright yellow helmet mohawk and put it on top of my yellow helmet. It's speed rated to something like 180MPH, so it should hold on just fine for a scooterist. I think this is a great way to add some visibility to your ride, but it may look out of place on some of the older rider's helmets (keep in mind that I am a 'punk' kid at 20yrs). But if it helps you stay alive, who cares?! Just a thought!

Interesting. So now you look like a Roman Centurion on your scooter. But if it works, what the heck.
You need to post a photo of you on your scooter with the mohawk helmet so we can properly judge this now.

I used to want one of those, then everyone and their mother got one around here. If you think it makes you more visible, go for it.

Yeah, if my mother had one, then the novelty would kindof wear off ;D! But for now, I have only seen about 3 others with them, and 2 are at my school (16,000 students and only 10-15 bikes). My dad thinks I look like Martin the Martian, even though mines yellow and MtM's is red. I really do need to put some pics up. I've done some custom work (grafix and intake) that I'd like to show off, and now the mohawk ;D

I get visions of a punk sport bike rider doing a rear wheel wheelie (endo?) to a stop. Turning of the engine, getting off the bike, pulling off the helmet, and the mohawk is still on his head. There is a slot in the helmet to clear the mohawk.

Earl, are you stuck in the 80's, that's where I have seen that one. I think there was a commercial years ago with somebody pulling of an helmet and the mo was still there. It might have been some hairdoo advertisement or something in that department or in a magazine. Maybe it was on MTV when it first came out. Or maybe it's one of my drunk biker friends from the past. Or maybe I was so drunk that I just thought I saw something like that. hell I don't know. Something to ponder on anyway.

I want to buy some viking horns for my helmet. Now THAT would be cool.

The cool thing would be being able to take the helmet off and have the horns still be there! 8) I think that would trump the mohawk.

I, personally, would want a central row of spikes. Like a dragon or stegosaurus would have.
Also... Hi, everyone! This is my first post. I came here trying to find info on Lance scooters for my first ever scooter purchase, and I think I'll stay.

A girlfriend of my wifes has a bright pink helmet mohawk, it fits here though. In NY, you cannot have certain things like spikes, etc. on a helmet. Soft items are okay.

Ok, I finally got pics up! It's a bit big, but I couldn't take the time to resize it. I have dial up, and editing my pics would have taken a LONG time! Aero

A new craze has hit the motorcycle accessory industry and the item in question is referred to as the helmet Mohawk. Some of the factors that this item has turn out to be so popular have to do with the reality that they aid the rider show off their personality, they can be taken off of the helmet if the rider does not wish to wear them, and they can be used to help make the rider more noticeable to others on the open road.
