In yesterday's business section of all places. It was an interesting read. This middle aged guy went to MSF training and tells his story. Of interest here were 2 specific remarks:
1. There were experienced and inexperienced riders in his group which were all new to MSF. The experienced riders didn't ride any better than the new guys.
2. After the class he found himself hyperaware of his surroundings (me too!). He noted what he saw on the roads, all the mistakes being made by people, as he put it "Every cliche in the book."
Man I have to agree with that last sentence. Yeah you don't have much protection riding a 2-wheeler, but the degree of sheer recklessness that I have seen by 2 wheelers makes me wonder why even more aren't killed. I used to drive into Westchester county NY (big bucks area), and invariably I would get passed by a team of racing bikes zig-zagging through traffic like it was standing still, and the difference in speed when they passed me was higher than the speed I was traveling, ie they were going more than twice as fast as me.
