My 250 does 70 on a regular basis, confirmed by my buddy's Kawasaki KLR650. I have no problem with stability or handling at top speed as long as tires are at correct pressure. With a passenger, I max at 65. I don't run wot all the time, but sometimes I just have to open her up. My road to town is 55mph, hilly and winding, so I have to adjust speed frequently. But it's perfectly comfortable when road conditions are right.

I've had mine up to 73mph on a flat surface but it could have gone faster if I had more road. ;D

Well you do know they set a worl speed record of a little over 137mph on a 50cc engine powered motorcycle a while back. But I think 70mph or so going downhill with a tailwind on a 250cc scooter is about right. The CVT drive unit has a fair amount of power loss to it. A 250cc motorcycle with a clutch and transmission might get up to 80-85mph. This is about what the kawasaki Ninja 250 gets up to. Really? Only 80-85 for a ninja? I've seen a friends aprillia rs125 go up to 100

On the highway, I can do 65 with no sweat. It's gotten up to 78, but that was heading downhill with the wind pushing my back. Top average is about 70 with barely any wind. I'm comfy with 60-65 even though the temp gauge hangs on the 3/4 mark when hanging at 65 for an extended time.....

howdy, did you mean to ask if anyone had ridden faster than 70 and survived to tell the story? then yes. i've had my sym hd 200 to 80 indicated and my grand vista to 85 and survived. but i now prefer my bv500 which will go 100 and carry my 300 pound butt up the freeway hills at the speed limit. i'm like some of the others though in that i prefer to take the side road and smell the roses.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya

Speedometer read 77 mph on my Bali 250. It was me testing it after a valve adjustment. It was going up a grade also. But at 77 mph it gets a bit shakey and I generally ride 55 to 65 mph..

The Citycom's rated top speed is 80mph and I've done that GPS verified a number of times. On the speedo it show 90mph! For a 262cc scoot it does well, I can cruise on an indicated 76mph ( GPS 70mph) all day with no problems. Very stable and comfortable.

Fastest Ive had my JMstar 250 was an indicated 83 on level road, since the speedo is off by 5 mph ive had her up to 78mph and there was still room in the throttle for more. MY JMStar shares the same body with the Roketa Bali and the Tank 250 Touring. Its a long, heavy, scooter and it handles those speeds like a champ. As long as your on relatively straight road, or at least road with good sight distance ahead of you and little traffic you would be fine at those speeds (provided there isnt alot of wind).
Wind is frankly the biggest factor ive encountered that determines how safe i feel at speed. if its very windy I usually dont go past 55 on my 250.
On my old 150 40 was pushing it in the wind, but it was a much lighter scoot.

Mine seems to really 'like' the 60-65mph range but has trouble getting much beyond that. I've had it as high as 80 (gps) but that was going down a relatively gentle grade with a pretty stiff tail wind. I'm most comfortable with it on 55mph secondary roads where I know I've got a little reserve if I need it. The 70mph four lanes I feel like I'm making the bike work too hard just to keep up with traffic and I have zero reserve unless I happen to be on the down-slope of a hill.

I run an Linhai Aeolus 300 and regularly travel at 70mph and don't have stability issues. Watch your temp guage and slow down if it starts to get near that red mark in this summer heat!

Mine will do well of 100mph when you push it off the grandcanyon and its only 150cc, but the wind has to be just right blowing from west to east. Alleyoop

My 150CC CFMoto does 65 flat and 68-60mph downhill. That is as fast as I've been able to go before the rev limiter kicks in.
I haven't ridden a 250cc, but I took a Yamaha Majesty 400cc (really like 380cc) on the freeway and did 90mph no problem. (gps verified) Though the speedo said I was going 100.
Depending on your weight, the wind, and the road, I'd guess a 250cc should do at least 70.

Mine indicated 77 mph but I think a bit off. More like 69 mph.. Mine is a Roketa Bali 250. Got it new. It shook something awful as I slowly got to 77 mph on the speed guage( slight uphill) wind to my back. I say more like 69 mph, because that is the top speed of the Bali 250.

Not a 250 but a Pierspeed 150 with big bore and other mods will do little over 70mph flat land(as read by speedo) and downhill had it to 80mph (also speedo). Kinda funny being in the fast lane passing cars and seeing there faces as they saw what passed them.

had my Bali 250 to 85mph according to the speedo but it will top out about 70-72mph and thats on the GPS while the chinameter was reading 85mph! It wasnt that bad pretty nice and smooth at 70mph but prefer about 50-60mph depending on the smoothness of the road!

Down-hill speeds don't mean squat......you have to judge your speed on the level on a windless day, and report the driver weight, as well as if he was "tucked in". That being said......my '85 250 Honda Elite would do 80+ on the level, pulling my 230lbs, in a semi-tucked position. I had a 200cc 4-speed Lambretta that was as fast as the Honda. Too bad I sold the thing. My 250cc YDS2 Yamaha could break 90mph......a 5-speed 2-cyl motorcycle however. I'd like to put that engine in a scooter frame.

I regularly go 55+ on my 150. It does get kinda shaky and starts to fishtail and vibrate a lot but I don't care too much. But then again I'm 20, I jump curbs, and weave like crazy in traffic because that just how I ride so my style is kinda more risky than yours. I guess that what years bmx riding at a teen did to me lol. And playing GTA once in a while doesn't help either...
