I agree, making yourself easier to see can only help. Here's my current full-time riding jacket: www.olympiamotosports.com/airglide/airglide.htmIt's the neon-yellow one, MJ130Z. Kinda spendy, but it's a pretty nice jacket on several fronts, and between the mesh and the liner, it will be good almost year-round. Great conversation piece, as well...the guy in the cubicle next to me at work swears that the wall feels warm to the touch soon after I hang the jacket up. "Can you see me now?"

Interesting how the busy helmets act like camouflage, solid colors stick out.

You are so right about the helmet. I never really realized it until about a month ago. I saw a guy riding a big bike and he had a bright yellow helmet. I can't tell you anything about the bike or the rider or his clothing but I still remember that helmet and I saw it clear as day coming down the road. So I think a new helmet will be on my Christmas list. Right now I have a patriot red, white and blue which does stick out some but I don't think it is anything like that yellow or the orange one in your picture. Deb

The article has the same remarks as kmtsmom. I was asked why I didn't get a matching helmut, and in dark metallic red would have looked sharp, but I felt the mismatch will more than pay for itself. I plan on sticking a brake light on the back of the helmut as well. I think most people don't look down anymore to spot brake lights since the introduction of the high / 3rd brake light. Why become a stat because of someone else's bad habits?
Its not a perfect fit, this orange TZR. It pushes a little too hard on a spot on the top middle of my foreheard.

I bought a $16 optic yellow lightweight vest, with reflective striping, front and back, like the road construction crews wear these days. I wear it every day, and people CAN see it. .
