I wear the knee pads as I am not fond of the armored pants (to hot for me). I take a chance on my ass getting road rash but I should qualify that by saying that in itself is "stupid" to coin a phrase. The knee pads are similar to the ones I wear when sparring (Karate) and I feel they will protect me well. As for my upper body I wear a jacket with armor. I have three, one heavy for winter driving, on medium weight for spring fall and one mesh for summer. I will not ride without them. As for short skirts...my wife made me quit wearing em...something about looking stupid?

I am currently using a Feildsheer jacket with pads, and a pair of Olympia pants with pads. Both have a removeable liner for when it gets warmer. I also have a pair of those nifty kevlar lined blue jeans with knee pads too. Great for casual day at work. Since motoLiberty is local to me, I bought them there. They have sales every now and then, and I got a great deal on the jacket at the time. www.motoliberty.com/

I have just started wearing kneepads under relaxed fit jeans when I ride, other than 25 mph errands within a few blocks from home. I went down a few times in my younger days and landed on my knees most times, once really ripping them up, and I don't think I'd heal as well now as I did then. You really can't tell I'm wearing the kneepads unless I sit down with them on.

Hmmmm. It looks like the only skin you would potentialy have exposed, would be the area between where the undershorts end, and where the knee/shin guards start. Can you get cute skirt in cordura and teflon And where do they put the armour ;D Nadine

I've actually found access to cordura, ballistics, and kevlar fabrics; so I can make one, which I'm sorely tempted to do!
I can always put pockets for removable armor on the hips for a bit of added protection. But maybe I should design them as skorts in case it started twisting or flipping up as I skidded across the street.
That would be some double plus embarassment! And road rash.
