I just launched a new scooter forum last night. It's called the "Sharing the Ride" Scooter Board. I hope the main focus of the new board will be scooter safety, because although there are many good, safe motorcycling books, some of the problems that scooterists encounter are different than when on a motorcycle. Also, there are often different solutions for similiar problems to those encountered by motorcyclists. So really digging into the many possible different scenarios and coming up with specific solutions for Scooter safety comparable to what's available for motorcyclists, is in some respects, breaking new ground.
The only scooter safety forum I've even seen is here, and by getting another scooter safety forum out there, and narrowing the focus of the new board quite a bit, I'm hoping that we can get more people reading and thinking about scooter safety, and participating in coming up with solutions that apply more specifically to scooters. I have found with the scooter safety web page I have on the LetsgoScootin site, that almost every new experience that people post, telling about possible dangers, accidents they've had, or near accidents that they've avoided, brings fresh perspective to how I think about similiar scenarios.
I'm not looking to step on anyone's toes or lure users away from any other forums. I'm also not planning any areas for technical or repair questions, as I figure there are plenty of brand specific forums to send people to, and the Scootdawg forum to cover all those brands that would otherwise fall through the cracks.
I've seen that for a non-technically oriented forum, it's important to cover several areas of interest for people to share experiences, in order to build a sense of community. I set up a section there for sharing safety tips, techniques, and personal experiences that instruct or warn of possible dangers that might encountered, a section for reviews, and an area for true riding stories from the mundane to the most miserable, from scenic rides to cross country tours.
I don't view making another forum available as competing for users, as almost every board I've visited and all the boards I post on sometimes, have some users that post on a number of boards, and a few prolific posters that post on almost every scooter board I've ever posted or lurked on. I see alll the various scooter forums(well, most of them anyway) as complementing one another by appealing to folks who have different interests and who took up scootering for a variety of different reasons..

Since I live and ride in Indiana, I also have a place for Indiana clubs and events, and for Hoosiers to share info about themselves, places to ride, construction projects to avoid, etc.
