I recently purchased a new helmet from CBX Man and it reminds me of the Importance of wearing a helmet. Several years ago I was racing a friend. I went into a familiar curve around the local lake after it was just finished with construction of the lake. It was about 7 miles around it and fresh blacktop. Private Lake and only a few people lived there. Anyway I thought I was safe. Wrong! I went into a corner after passing my friend and there was small shale gravel all over the blacktop. I tried braking but it was impossible to stop. I was headed straight for a solid wood mailbox post. There was nothing else to do but lay the bike down and try to escape disaster! I somehow bounced up in the air and came straight down on the top of my helmet on the pavement. I bounced off my helmet straight up a hill, into a guy's yard about 25 ft away. I landed looking down at the bike. All I could think of was; This helmet saved my life! I got back on the motor cycle and rode home. The back tire hit the mailbox post an split it in about 10 places. No damage to bike, unbelievable I know. All that happened to me was the baddest headache for 4 days. I learned that lesson the easy way. In another accident, I did somersault rolls down the highway at 50 mph one time also. Had on Helmet and leathers. I did not get hurt then either. Bike, Yamaha 1100, only had slight damage. $100 most. It all reminds me of something Evel Knevel said; Wear a helmet, They can fix anything but your head. Well he ought to know. He is in the Guinness Book of World Records for the person with the most broken bones. About 400. Almost all motorcycle death's occur in town at apx. 25 mph because the rider was not wearing a helmet! Brains bashed! Take off that stupid head wrap and please have the brains to protect your brains! Please wear a helmet. Do yourself a favor survive! Survive for yourself and your loved ones. Maybe your not ready to meet your maker yet. I wear a full face when it's not to hot. And I'm getting a new open face for the hot 90 degree days. Take time now to shop around and try them on. They are kind of like shoes, you have to find ones that are comfortable. Then this winter you can get a good deal on the Internet once you shop around and know what fits you. I recently got a $250 Icon full face helmet from CBX Man for $99. Last one I think. I saw a couple others on a couple sites priced the same. They are new 2005 models. Good helmet hunting OK. It will be fun. David, Keep the Faith!
