Here is a post from Gary Charpentier's Ride to Work blog that is an important story to read and consider when out scootering. tinyurl.com/yeyaty

Great link Dennis...thanks. I've been there... snowmobile again 40 mph sideways on lake.. ahead frozen crustly snow. It hit and flipped. I did the superman followed by the crawl. We got better.

You've highsided on snow and ice, I've highsided hitting ruts on dirt, but highsiding on pavement with curbs and light poles all around and walking away as Charpentier did is really lucky. I used to work at a seminary with beautiful grounds and a nice curvy road with a 20 mph speed limit going through the grounds. One of the seminary students overcooked it going through one of the curves, slid, overcorrected, highsided and split his helmet and head wide open on the concrete base of a light pole. He died before the EMS got there. The professor who sold him the Kawasaki was really upset for selling a powerful cycle to a novice rider and ended up selling his own new bike.... he just lost his heart for it. I eventually lost track of him after he moved into another ministry, but if he ever rode again, it was some years later.
