I was talking with Dennis at CBXman the other day and he was telling me about how he went down on his Honda CBX last Sept. Luckily, he was wearing full body armour and a good helmet because he was at pretty high speed. Today he sent me a bunch of pics of the bike and it's a disaster. He might not be here to sell Puig Shields and Qlinks if he wasn't well suited up.
Then ooops goes down, totalling his new Kymco. My girlfriend went down last summer and suffered terrible road rash which could have been prevented with the right gear. I don't want any Dawgs getting hurt or killed. So, here it is front & center. Talk about it!

Great!! I was going to start a continuing thread, kinda like Riker's in the 50-80cc board on safety, anyway. Probably starting with things new riders need to know and be watching for, dealing with other issues as they come up, then dealing with specific hazards, problems and scenarios that people encounter and how to prepare for them mentally and by working on skills. I won't have much time for it til around Christmas, because this is the season where I am busiest, but this is a good issue to really explore and prepare for during the cold winter months(for some of us) so we'll be safer riders in the spring. I'm certainly not an expert, but I do try to play out a lot of what if? scenarios in my head before a ride, and even during a ride as I ride into areas where things could go wrong "IF"........ Sharing possible scenarios and solutions with each other can certainly help our preparedness so what could be bad, can be avoided or dealt with in the best possible way.

Dawg, Dennis I am all for this but set the tittle to reflect what will be posted "thing that a rider should know" "Safe riding information" "things you don't what to do" something like that.
Mine is" Don try to make a 10in wheel do more the 60 MPH you are asking for a place in the died-ee yard!!!

I hadn't thought about it, but "Safety Issues" could be taken as a recall list, or manufacturer problems and concerns with unsafe of bad scooters, though I think that most people who come to the ScootDawg forum more than once or twice would check it out and see. A title like "Safe Scootin' " would cover it pretty well both for techniques and equipment issues.... and some equipment issues need to be considered right along with safe riding techniques.

I really don't care what it's called. I'd rather see more talk about safety than what the label of the board is. That stuff belongs in the suggestion box.
