no 401k, matter of fact , I'm looking for work now in a field that is closer to what I went to school for.
Got my sights set on a couple of positions in the local hospitals. Hopefully I'll hear something soon, or I'll be working fast food or anything else along with my home health care number to pay the rent here pretty quick!

Ok peeps!
I GOT MY SCOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Been about a week now that I've had it. Couldn't get it to start, turned out to be a simple fuse replacement! Glad I didn't pay someone to figure that out for me!
Anyways
I ended up with more money than anticipated, so I went with the 250! It's great! Now just waiting for registration. I am going to post the good and the bad of the drama to get the scooter, hopefully this weekend!
But I got my MC 54 250B! It's a beautiful metallic blue!!!!!! Can't wait to post some pics!

Way to go Mom23!!! Let us know how the riding goes?
Quick question. Are the Roketa's CARB approved? If not, do you have to take them in for smog test or something before registering?

I looked high and loc for CARB approved scooters. Finaly settled on the VIVA MP250RO. What came was the Roketa MC-54-250B CARB.
It's on all the vin. plates. So........in a way, I guess I got lucky. I love the ride on this thing......... can't wait to get legal so I can take off for an hour or so!

Mom, I don't know if you like the "racer" look or the retro look in a scooter, but I think you couldn't go wrong with a Lance. We bought the Venice, which is a 150. It has plenty of power, is ridden to work every day, on errands, etc, and is getting over 75 MPG. We paid about $1460 cash, out the door, TT&L, from our local dealer. He has been great in taking care of the little issues we had, even when the factory warranty did not cover them. I definatley would go this route, if you have a good dealer nearby, because I have heard over and over that you need to be mechanically inclined if you buy one drop shipped on the internet. If I bought a scooter on line, I would arrange to have a veteran scooter rider at home with me to inspect it at delivery time. 4 eyes are better than 2. Make darn sure you check the oil before you crank it, I have heard of rare occasions where a bike got away from the factory with a dry crankcase! The FLY is the same scooter as the Lance, but I think Lance's specs are a little tighter, the warranty is 7 months longer for the same scooter model. Our next scooter is going to be the Lance Vintage (the seat height is lower than the Venice, and I am shorter than Annie), from the same dealer. Best of luck, see you on the road!

Mom, OOPS! Well, I I'd have bothered to read the rest of this thread, I'd have known you already have chosen your scooter. Congratulations! Keep us posted, and ride safe!

Congrats Mom!! I'm new here,..reading your posts made me register!! I recently purchased a used Roketa 150cc (same metallic blue) so far no major issues with mine. The 250cc scared me as I was afraid I couldn't hold it up!!
Can't wait to hear how you do with the bike,.and of course pictures would be nice!! Good luck and be safe!!

Thanks for the responses. All the info I can get from anyone who has "been there and done that" is greatly appreaciated. My budget calls for me to take a risk and "BUY CHEAP CHINESE". That being said, I want to research every possibility before I take my leap of faith. Roketa Jamaica, 150cc. Thats what I have.

To all my dawgs!!!!!!!!
I can't get my pics to stick! My computer has som kind of read error, so pics will come eventually....................... as will my friggin' paperwork!
I ordered scooter from Rick at mxmotorsports.us, not too bad of an experience. But dealing with Roketa to get paperwork.................I could really just go for sending them back at this point for my money! 31days, and this heifer is still claiming she sent them last week! ( How many weeks in 31days? Was told by another rep that paperwork would be sent next day service................. that was 2 weeks ago. Now, either they are the most unintelligent bunch, or the most lazy and criminal minded half baked slackers a dishonest company can hire........... or they just can't get it together and are coming apart at the seams when it comes to takin' care of business!
Just my buck fifty!

Yay for your new scoot! I am glad I got a 250 since it is fast enough for the freeway and handles well, even at speeds and with major cross wind.
