Greetings, from Florida...
LOL
If you are going to get anything for longer travel... A motor-cycle is not the answer. (Back-ache and stress associated with fatigue of the ride, is from using a street-position seat or a crotch-rocket seat.)
I suggest, if you like scooters, and journeys are not a daily event... Look into "Touring Scooters", which have a more upright stance, windshield, and ample storage or a side-car.
The alternative "Touring Cycle", will last you longer, cost you more, and waste more fuel than a car. (They are over-sized scooters, as are most motor-cycles.)
I have been told, from those who have driven both, that there is more actual enjoyment in a touring scooter, as opposed to the tank-like touring motor-cycles. Being easy to maneuver, and light, and quicker to dismantle the side-cars... you can transform from touring to cruising, adding back to your scooter style, casual driving. (Also, many windshields also stow-away in the side-car, for those who like wind-rush. However, that is also 70% of the source of fatigue.)
Trust me... I feel your pain in the, "Not enough time to do anything.", mode...
Same situation here. Running, (Attempting to run), several websites, and working full time. Though, personally, I still want my sting-ray, with a Macao-shark front end, or a lamborghini-exotica kit-car. (Prebuilt... I don't have time for all that headache! LOL.)
As for me... OMG... I spun peoples heads when I drove my "Pep-boys scooter, (Retro-50cc)", from Enfield, Connecticut, down to Jacksonville, Florida. (Took over a week, because I did a little sight-seeing in Virginia, Connecticut, South-Carolina, Georgia, and I also destroyed a front bearing before I even got out of Connecticut. Which is now a Harley-Davidson starter bearing as the replacement.)
That George-Washington bridge almost got me killed... as did the Pulaski-Skyway... Potholes there were as big as my bike! If I wasn't with a tail-wind, and in the suction of flow from the walled roads and passing traffic... I would surely have been consumed by them holes!
The harsh and twisted fear of being pummelled by 18 wheels... and a trucker comically laughing and saying... "What was that, a squirrel I just ran over?"... That kept me holding tight as I swayed across that wet swiss-cheese pavement.
BTW... 50cc scooters, in -10F weather, with a tail-wind, down-hill, with passing suction turbulence, in a walled highway... Will get up to 75 MPH, (When the surrounding cars are doing 95 MPH!)
Don't ever retire... just work less... You will go mad with nothing to do!
Learn how to make 3D things, and create content for IMVU.com to make extra money. That is what I do, and I am not even that good at it! (Still, it brings in an additional $400.00 a month for me on a good month. Only about $200.00 when it is slow. Depends how much I run around and chat in the forums there... Image is everything... Gossip is everything else!)
NOTE TO SELF: Never attempt to drive a scooter in sub-zero weather again.
NOTE ADDITION: Never go where it gets down to sub-zero weather again!
