I've been on the forum for a while, but never figured this out: (and there may be a thread that explains it, just show me!)
1) What is the symbol in the first column, looks like manila folders, with some on fire? 2) What is in the second column, looks like sheet of paper for most, but sometimes a circle with a question mark? 3) In the actual subject line of the thread, most of them have the word "NEW" at the beginning. When I first post a thread it's not there, but pops in a little later. What governs that?
Thanks!!

Manila folder is just a standard thread. On fire means it's a hot topic with (I think) over 25 replies. A padlock means the staff have locked that thread so no new posts. A red thumbtack means we have "stickied" that post so it will remain at the top as we feel it is important. The second column you can select a question mark and other things when you post a new thread to indicate what you want to "emote" in the thread. I haven't used this feature... but it's there. The new is not visable to the thread originator just others at first.... I guess it figures you wrote it you know it's new..LOL
You can click the help button at the top and see other features of the Proboards system. I reccomend you have high speed access if you do that. It's slower than death otherwise!
