I got about 27 reads and no replies on this one in the 50cc section, so I thought I should see if I get any responses here in the 2cycle section.
I have 2 scoots: one Chinese to "work on", and one Italian Aprilia SR50 Factory 2 cycle, liquid cooled, fuel injected 50cc. I had to have a bike that always ran... So far, after about 750miles, the Aprilia has been top notch, no issues at all.
Are there any other Aprilia 2 cycle owners out there? Have you had good reliability? Any problems? What are the things to maintain and watch out for?

Probably a little late.... Just joined the forums. Yes I currently own two '07 Aprilia SR50R Factories. One has heavy mods and the other is bone stock. Absolutely no abnormal problems. These scooters are the most technologically advanced 50cc scooters on the market. There isn't a 50cc scooter that can compare in performance, handling and capabilities.

Hey Keith:
On an unrelated note, where in NC are you? I'm in Cary. Did you buy your Aprilia from a dealer here in NC?

Hey, I'm in the Lake Norman (north of Charlotte) area. Bought the scoot at Interstate Cycle dealer here.
As an update, the scoot now has over 3400 miles on it. I recently had it derestricted so I don't get run over on 2 lane 45/55 MPH roads. It's been a great bike. It used to get over 100 MPG, now it gets about 80 MPG, but I can cruise safely at 45MPH now. The only issue I've had is that the starter gear failed on it and left me stranded once. The dealer fixed it at no cost under warranty. I feel much safer on it than the Chinese scoot, which is currently down.. :-(

Hey there,,,I just acquired an 02 Aprillia with 5000 miles on it from the Police department as an unclaimed stolen vehicle. Im gonna send a few pictures along with this post as the ignition was comprimised and the throttle cable is rigged, etc. What I'm getting at is that I'm trying to ID the bike for a parts order. I also obtained a Roketa Bahama 50cc with only 500 miles on it. The Roketa is faster under acceleration than the Aprillia although I had the Aprillia up to 46 mph. It seems that when it hits 30mph the motor starts revving up and it takes off to the mid 40's. Flywheel? Powerband? I'm brand new to this scooter thing, have always admired them and have always wanted one (or two) Both of the bikes were in need of work and i had to figure outt a few things in order to get them running. I'm gonna hang on to the Aprillia as it's a stylish looking bike...the Roketa go's to the wife...

Hi hdnvn, Take a picture of the exhaust side of the motor, particularly the water pump. That will allow me to identify 1 of the 3 motors the Aprilia SR50 came with. Thanks

If it doesn't make power till after 30mph, you might want to take a look at your CVT rollers. They might still be the stock heavy ones the restricted bikes wear. A set of 6.5 or 6.7s might smooth things out for you

I just picked up a 03 SR-50 DiTech , previous owner only put on 58 miles since new. I have already added 300 miles - so I'm at 358 miles and it runs absolutely perfect. I will eventually add a Leo pipe and may mess with the rollers a bit - I assume mines already De-restricted as I've hit 62mph downhill. I feeel like I got a killer deal as I gave the guy 1,500 bucks for her. I'm Happy !
