I know that the older Vespas had 150 and bigger 2T (2-strokes) engines up to 2005. I know that the EPA is why we see 50cc 2Ts now. Is there anything bigger out there I'm missing? I'm talking from the factory, not big bore kits.

The US has abolished the sale of 2stroke engines larger than 50cc. The only one that the EPA let in for a couple years was the Daelim Delfino 100. I think this year they put a stop to that one as well. The Rattler 110 is only assuming you do not live in the US. I'm kinda surprised that disclaimer isn't in there yet. It's rediculous! We can open up new coal power plants, but be Damned if a 100cc 2stroke is gonna get past our boarder! Now the only way to have one is to build one up from a 50cc. I think typical bore kit is a 70cc. Which if geared and tuned right will perform every bit as good as a 4stroke 150cc.

No, I don't think so, my local dealer still sells 125cc & 150cc 2-strokes. 50cc scooters are a different category than larger ones (50s are a class 1 motorcycle). 50 to 180ccs (Class 1 & 2), are still allowed. I think what happened is they changed the classes, so now a class 1 is 50-169ccs, with exemptions for 2006 and earlier models.
If the scoot's engine family conforms to the 'evaporative emission standards' set by the EPA, it can be up to 169ccs.
I'm not quite sure why so many on-line sellers are so confused over this and giving out wrong information, but any B&M dealer that has to fill out the EPA paperwork will confirm this.

Well damn. I don't know wether to feel foolish or suckered??? Well you hear the same thing from several people that should know, so thats what you end up going on... I agree Big Guy, These damn dealers need to get their heads outta their ass and get the facts sraight before telling people they can or can't have something. They are litterally cutting their own throats to several potential sales. They'll just lead you to believe there's no other choice anymore but to get a 50cc and then the borekit along with the carb, filter, rollers, springs, exhaust, and upgear! Damn I hate crooked dealers!!![/i]

YS, I think the problem is, they are not dealers, but merely re-sellers. A real dealer knows the law and has to comply with it, a reseller takes the word of an importer who only imports certain models that sell best and tells them what they [the importer] wants the reseller to know.
But yes, you're right in a way. Crooked? I don't know if it's intentional. Uninformed and ignorant to the laws? Yes! And if you're in business, you should know your business and there's no excuse for that!

Supposedly Power Sports Factory is about to (or maybe already has) release a 90cc 2 stroke.

There is a whole other world in the UK and other countries with large displacement scooters..... I think many of them are 2 strokes anyway. (Gilera runner, Yamaha Aerox, Peugeot Speedflight, etc)
