Thanks again for the advice. I'll probably wait till I need a replacement and go up one size. I went from 235/55/R16 to 265/75/r16 on my f150 and didn't regear so i lost some low end power even with the 3.55 diff gearing. So here it is so far. I am still waiting to have some spare time and even the $5 for brake caliper paint to paint the wheels black. The fan I installed works on a switch in the glove compartment since I have hot summers(Houston TX) and bad traffic. Comparison: click for larger image

I'm extremely happy with the outcome. I trimmed the fear fender/plate holder. So I ordered some 11g rollers, should arrive this week. ;D Besides that, I see myself leaving this stock because I need reliabily and I'll drive my Ford if I want speed.

I dig the bobbed tail. I took some flat stock aluminum and mounted it to the tank strap under the tank and over the strap, Then I mounted a cheapie plate mount right on the top of the flat stock, and it 'floats' under the license plate light. I took a dremel to the fender right under the tail light and whacked that sucker clean off!

Hey guys and gals... I am leaking engine oil from the front of the engine, I was wondering if there is a usual culprit. Looks like I am going to do another tear down to repair it Hope I get it right this time. Advice is welcome

Josch; Like your video!
Good luck with the oil leak. Eyeball it carefully before tearing it down in case it has a simple cure.

You should be able to tell where the oil leak is, for the most part, without tearing anything apart just yet. Crawl under there with a light and try to get a general idea of what area it is coming from. If you can't tell just from looking that way, you may want to clean the engine off then fire it up while you are watching for leaks. I don't know common areas on a GY6, but check around the valve cover, head, cylinder, drain plug, cam tensioner, basicly anywhere you know oil may travel.

Got it fixed, it was the head gasket. During the first rebuild I reused the old one, luckily I have a complete gasket set.
Thanks Scooterollie, i hope fto have more to come as I do little mods and start riding more. And as of now, this thing will not do a wheelie, even with pulling up hard and sitting on the rear seat. ;D

So, all back together, i managed to get the fan switch wired up. I figured since its so incredibly hot here in the summers and with traffic, its worth the $6 of parts. Parts list: 120mm PC fan, Fan mesh guard, 1 open/closed circuit switch. click for bigger pic just an idea of the cfm it pulls.

click for larger photo So I am now street legal and racking up mileage. ;D Did the rear milk crate freebie mod. All that is needed is four 1/4" or M8 bolts measuring 1" long with 4 large flat washers. The reflective tape was my brother-in-laws advice as he showed me how invisible my scoot is when parked at night. I am now thinking of some yellow side marker reflective tape for the lower fairing area. Sorry, but I have to nerd this thing out for utility and safety.

Whats missing is Duct Tape pin stripping to match the milk crate .

Oil leak:
So, i now need to go and fix something I managed to screw up pretty well. I used the paper gasket on the head to cylinder instead of the metal gasket(IDIOT).
So now I get to tear it down again and am tempted to go ahead and am looking at the 170cc kits but don't know how large I can go before needing to machine the engine casing for the cylinder to fit.
Scoot is now Insured, inspected and Registered. Cost a little more than i thought but I'm saving a lot in the long run.

Looking for some help. I am having an oil leak and replaced all of my gaskets. Now...this little bolt goes in the head. i noticed it managed to wiggle itself loose and I am hoping this somehow has to do with the oil issue. Any insight? i am putting it back in with high temp thread locker and praying this fixes it. I hope it was for an emissions deals that my scooter doesn't have.

Fixed, ends up these are for the models equipped with exhaust gast recirculation pipes. I just removed the bolt, applied thread locker and re-installed it. I also adjusted the intake and exhaust valves to .004" and have a nice quiet engine and power delivery feels smoother.

So a I am enjoying the heck out of this little scoot. Been able to get up to 60mph on the chinometer, and to be honest it must be close because I can keep up with traffic on 50mph streets which typically speed 5-10mph. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jdwygfhy_Zovideo

Okay , I loved that video!! That is why we love to ride. Passing the cagers, and doing it while getting a fillup. Classic. I really dig the camera mount, too! Great thinking, great easy idea. Well done.
This is good stuff.

Thanks! Well, i got in my 11gram roller weights and was surprised, appears the "old ones" are lighter. i have no scale to weigh them with...

fixed, made a balance scale. First, get a level or similar flat object. Balance it on a round (i used a cigarette lighter which is symmetrical) object and mark and securely tape the pivot point to the level. Then add roller weights at the same location opposed to each other.

i just got back from a little ride...not too sure if I like the roller weights, seems like the engine has to work too hard to get me up to speed. I weight 220lbs and 250 with my school stuff. I'll see if I can get to 62mph like I GPS confirmed previously. If not, back to "stock".
