Other than it can only be purchased online, I haven't heard much about it good or bad. The price is right though, if you got a metric set in your toolbox. You can have a 250 with the looks and price of a 150. Don't look to me like it's any more or less of a gamble than anything else on Ebay.

Well the price would be right. I can get it for 1499 from the local shop.
I am heading over there now to see what is in stock and talk to the owner a bit.

Well the price would be right. I can get it for 1499 from the local shop. For a 250cc?! That gives you "wiggle room" for "oopses". Have a good set of metric wrenches handy, and patience, and you could do good.

At least some of the Komoto scoots seem to be made by a company called Chuanl that also makes Longbo scooters.
I think that scoot has the cfmoto engine and the evo scoot has the linhai.
For $1499 from a local dealer it sounds like a really interesting deal. Let us know what you thought when you looked at it.

Note that the scoot has no wind screen. After having ridden a 150 without a screen and now my 250 with a screen, I know I'll allways want a screen, especially when its cold. Maybe you can find an aftermarket screen to fit, maybe not.
Otherwise, sounds like a heck of a deal that sets a new standard in the Cheap China Scoot category. (I got my Viva for $1780 delivered and thought that was about as cheap as cheap could get).

Anyone ever seen, have, or heard of one of these? i just put a down payment on one. i'm going to take full possession of it tomorrow. it has the "backward" 250. when i test drove it two things stood out. 1. the vibration at idle was really noticeable. 2. the brakes were really touchy.

Except for the front Cowl its the same body paneling as the Road Runner Race 250, which for that matter is the basic Phantom Design and a very common model for a good few different Chinese scooter brands.
Looking at the CVT cover its not the Linhai 257 cc engine, hard to see from this angle, but it could be the Helix clone 250cc engine or even just a GY6. Wonder where the radiator would be on this model? On the Race 250 its behind the lights, which is why I guess they changed the front cowl to add an air intake for the radiator, which this one doesn't seem to have.
Send some pictures along with a review when you get the chance Leo and best of luck with the scoot. Did you purchase it at a B&M dealer, you did say down payment and taking possession tomorrow, makes it sound like a B&M.

Wonder where the radiator would be on this model? behind and above the headlights. i have no idea where to get pictures. i can get the one that was taken of the scoot in the guys driveway. i had that in mind. hey, thanks man. i've been eyeballin' some bikes online. found this one on craigslist. apparently the guy operates a used car lot and purchased 4 or 5 of these scoots. he had them all at his house. he also had this monster of a bike, an 1800cc. it was a beauty. the name of his dealership is: clean machines auto sales brownsburg in. 46112 i noticed there were some screws missing, and the body was dinged a little. minor stuff. it's a 250cc with the backward pointing engine.

Good deal . My local shop was not able to get one. I also contacted Komoto and they did not expect that they would be getting anymore.

Leo; Congrats on your purchase. That is a lot of engine in a light bike and should really fly. That model has been around for a couple of years but apparently has not been a big seller. Yes, you do have the CFMoto/Honda design engine. If you have read posts on the water cooled scoots here, you know that we recommend draining the coolant and replacing it with known quality antifreeze mix. The Chinese coolant does not seem to have much in the way of corrosion inhibitors. Just in front of the exhaust pipe loop, you can see the water pump. Removing the bottom screw on the pump is the way you drain the coolant. Below is a link to the procedure for changing coolant. My preference is Zerez G-05, a "Hybrid Organic Acid" base mix that is proven to reduce damage to internal system parts. Auto Zone carries this brand coolant. f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/YDCCR9b55j54ahbOKZfjk6U9YYwsqVh_qXTk4jje3NTnZkhH9pk6HF0wUj0VB5bDGkm8J9mW9UfrdRLiDCaAlFD24IgmK7mA2CJp/Tech%20bulletin%20-%20coolant%20change.pdf

Touchy brakes ? I had a similar problem with my 257 china scoot.. drained brake fluid, refilled with dot4, bled... seemed to have cured that problem.. I'm not really sure if that had anything to do with it..(fluid change) or just bleeding... give it a try..

Leo; Congrats on your purchase. my loan didn't go through. i'll have to wait untill tomorrow to get it. the main reason i bought it was to maintain a reasonably consistant speed up and down hills. can't imagine why. i fell in love with it as soon as i seen it. i already have some issues with it though. the really major one is the seat. the seat on this model forces me to sit too far forward. there is no doubt i'll change the seat. somehow. yes, i know. the dealer even said to change the oil and gear lube as soon as i got it home. thanks for the tip. okay, thanks.

$1080.
i'm really afraid to drive it much over 35 or so MPH because the brakes grab so bad. on my 50cc i've never locked up the brakes, even on wet pavement. i've squeezed the levers so hard i'm surprised they didn't break.
brakes are one thing i'll have a MC shop take care of, after all my life may depend on them.

$1080 . Thats a sweet price if you ask me. apparently i caught him at the right time. winter with a garage full of stuff. he had it listed on craigslist since january 1st, i'm surprised he had it this long. i'm having a hard time lining up a pickup to go get it, it's a 4 hour round trip from here. i'm thinking about riding the scoot back but i'm concerned about engine break-in and that cheapo chinese oil.

okay, i got the bike home. i couldn't get a pickup to go get it so i had to ride it the 77 miles to my house.
this bike has one major problem. fuel starvation (i assume) this problem occurs at all speeds except idle. if i continuously work the throttle i doesn't happen. this leads me to believe it's a fuel related problem.
also i wasn't provided with any manuals of any kind. i would like to have a manual for the dash panel and the function of the 2 buttons on it.
all in al the bike handles well, ride is smooth. it starts really easy. after being warmed up you can't hear the starter motor work, it starts the instant you touch the starter switch.
any help with the fuel problem or the function of the 2 dash buttons would be appreciated.
an engine manual would also be nice but i believe i'll find one of those since the engine is a helix clone.

Maybe your just being picky ;D. Andi hmmm . . . in any event i'll scope out the problems. nah, i'm not being picky. i think you might need a few more hours rest. be my luck, one of those buttons operate a super secret james bond double oh seven super turbo. press it and zero to 300mph in 3 seconds. even if i didn't wreck i'd still be a mess when i stopped. i also noticed that it may be over heating. i say "may" because, you guessed it, i have no idea what that flashing red light is. i'm thinking about drilling a couple of holes in the cowel to improve air flow around the radiator. to be honest, i feel i got a good deal. the bike wasn't 100%, and i never expected it to be.

Best of luck with it, I think when you get the little problems worked out, you wil have a heck of a scooter for an awesome price. my thinking exactly. i could have easily paid double what i did and wound up with the same thing. these water cooled engines, if the water pump failed could i just hook up an electric one? if the original failed i will need a replacement. the bike itself seems stable, the steering is a bit stiff, especially on cold days like today, but that can be a good thing. i'm also thinking about adding another muffler. maybe even a big mouth car muffler.

Its interesting to note that 6 days ago you left a smug reply to one of my posts and you are now suffering the very thing I wrote about. I hope you are capable of trouble shooting and able to listen to the advice given on this forum ...... you don't remember? I'm just rubbing it in your face. Don't worry about what rest I need, I'm sharp and focused. In regards to your problems, I would most of all contact the seller, find out the functions and what the red blinking light is all about, before making any assumptions. Look at my post a little further up and you will notice that I have already mentioned about the radiator positioning, my race 250 has a different front cowl which includes a vent scoop allowing the air to directly hit the radiator. But ..... before you go drilling holes I would change to a quality coolant making sure that its properly burped (all the air is out of the system), which is done by topping up the radiator, then starting the engine (to cycle the coolant through the engine) and adding coolant until the rad is full. I would also check for leaks including around the radiator cap, if the system can't build pressure, it won't cool effectively. Check that the fan comes on and I would further check the thermostat and you may even use a temp gun to check if its overheating ...... isn't there a temp gage with the speedo? Remember its not a good deal until you add up all the money spend including repairs, parts, labor, downtime and loss of opportunity. Andi
