I cannot reset the digital trip odometer on this almost new scooter. The owners manual tells you to push the left button until the 4 digit trip indicator is showing and then hold the center button (for 2 seconds or longer) and the mileage will reset to zero. Doesn't happen. I've tried several other combinations, none of which work. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong? Or is there a problem with the bullet proof Kymco? ?? Everything else works like a dream.....

Are you holding the first button in while pushing the second? I think you just have to press and hold the second button for a couple of seconds.

Warstein You are absolutely correct.
Tried that and it works like a charm.
Thank you.
I couldn't believe there was anything wrong with my bulletproof scooter.

Heaven forbid there be a no-no on a KYMCO. I was about to tell you the same routine. the book ain't exactly clear. my service blinker keeps going and I don't have the ambition to look up on how to reset it.

Seems almost inconceivable that there might even be a hint of a problem with the Kymco.
Tomorrow I have to run it over the mountain to the dealer. We are trying to equip it for my X-country trip, which I have set for May 2008.
I need a top box: or equivalent a TOM TOM a seat cushion, probably an Airhawk, if I can figure out what size and some kind of saddlebags for gear.
Idea's anyone???
Thanks everyone has been very helpful

I used a large airhawk and it fit fine. Why a Tom Tom?

Tom Tom looks like a good "all-daylite" GPS

Hey, don't know if you're sold on a top case but a friend told me about a storage bag that fits on my Kymco and looks great. It is on sale at places like Big Lot's and the Bealls Outlet here. It is supposed to be used as a carrier for a combo tv/vcr for your car, so it straps between the two front seats. However, if you simply switch the two connectors, it works perfectly well for scooter luggage and for $4, it can't be beat. I was wondering if it would hold my lap top and when my friend brought the bag over to me, he had his top case that he was going to give me IN THE BAG, so it has as much room or more than most top cases. No, it probably isn't waterproof but most top cases aren't either

Thanks Scottfla We have a Bealls here in town so I'll check that out. It sounds like it would work for clothes and stuff. I've thought about the laptop but haven't decided yet.
I still have to get tent, sleeping bag, and air matress on board. I was going to use the back seat area for that and a tarp.
We'll see.

I just bought a Kymco Xciting250. It has a very small trunk rack. So I ordered an add on rack and trunk. I ordered a GIVI E460 Trunk and a GIVI SR89 Rack. The whole thing cost about $325. www.giviusa.com/caschi_borse_bauli_accessori.asp?CO_ID=12126&lang=enIt's supposed to be big enough for two full-face helmets. I ordered it at Cycleparts, Eugene, Oregon, where I bought my bike. www.time-to-ride.com/ They had the full line catalog with racks that fit specific scooters. Mine should be here this week. I'll report back when it arrives. Last summer I took a few trips with my Tank 250 and was able to attach a large storage box on the back rack. You can see may rig at 2down365.com/my-scoots.htm I think it may have been a little too much for the Tank's 10" rear wheel, but it never gave me any trouble. For my clothes and sleeping bag I bought a large yellow, water-proof bag at Walmart. It has a velcro fold-over top. My clothes never got wet, even in hard rain. I used heavy-duty bungie cords to tie it all up snug, and it made a nice back rest.

Blackc I ride a GV 250 I use the air hawk medium crusier seat cushion. Would not ride much with out it. I also have a GIVI 450 top box. LOTS of room. Holds my full face modular helmet an more. I also have a GIVI windshield. This is a tall windshield and makes long rides much easier as you do not have to fight the wind all the time. Good luck on cross country trip. Mike

I'm surprised you need a top box. I find the underseat storage so capacious I don't need the box.
