Well, I finally did it - I purchased a spankin' brand new Aeolus 300 and it is beautiful (red). I was impressed from the very beginning with the steel packaging. I had no shipping problems. As I examined the scooter, I found it to be very well manufactured.
Everything worked fine until I tried to start it. It wouldn't start. I check to see if I was getting gas to the carborator, and I wasn't, then I noticed that the electric fuel pump wasn't doing anything when I cranked the starter, not even a vibration. I thought maybe I had a bad electric fuel pump, then I checked the spark plug and I wasn't getting any spark either. Sounds like an electric problem, although all other electrical stuff seems to be working, like the starter, horn, head lights, tail lights, blinkers, dash lights, brake lights, etc. The temp gauge and the fuel gauge don't move and I know I have about 1.5 gals in the tank. I don't know if the gauges only start registering after the engine is running.
Tomorrow morning I guess I'll break out the voltmeter and start tracing elctric currents to see where the break down is.
Has anyone else had any problems like this who might know where I should start looking besides the spark plug and on back?

Be sure the scooter is on the center stand and the side stand is up. Also be sure the kill switch is in the run position. Thanks Stan - yes the scooter is on the center stand with the side stand up and the kill switch in the ON position.

Bob; I have never heard a noise from the electric pump. Don't know if it is rotary, like cars, or a pulse type. Yes, the gas gauge does register when you turn the key on, w/o the engine running. Did you check for spark by unscrewing the plug and grounding it's side on metal while hitting the starter button? Just trying to understand how you checked for spark. If yes, it does sound like an electrical problem. Check your manual for fuse location, then check the fuses, making certain they are good and are making contact. From whom did you buy the scoot? John Dikov doesn't have a mechanic but does put you in touch with the tech at the importer when a problem occurs. If you bought from a Brick-n-mortar dealer, what did they say? The systems on the Linhai built scoots are a little more sophisticated than the average Chinese scoot and we don't have a lot of folks out there with one.
Another thought, flip the kill switch firmly off and on a couple of times. Same with the ignition switch.

Bob; Any progress with the problem?

I've been a mechanic for thirty years, but that doesnt mean I can be acurate with your problem but here go. Fire, fuel, oxygen and compression make up what I call the engine sqare.( pardon my spelling, I bite at it), If you take away any part of the sqare you have a no start. you sa y you have no fuel and suspect your fuel pump is not running. Some electric fuel pumps are load sensing and will only run when pre-determind pressure has not been met. some pumps are costant using a regulator after the pump assembly and returning fuel to the tank that is not needed. If you have power to the pump motor, then remove the output line (if possible) and see if it starts to pump and if so , what kind of flow you have. If all this checks good then suspect carb blockage, but lets talk about your no spark problem first. There are two ways to kill ignition, #1 ground the primary circuit in the ignition, #2 open the primary circuit to the ignition. Kill buttons typically ground the primary thus stoping the engine. Iginition and fuel circuits are typically parallel and will share the same fuse. So dont assume that a circuit is hot because visually the fuse looks good. check voltage on both sides of every fuse. usually there is more than one fuse on a load in circuit. what that means is power will be bussed to more than one fuse from the battery or ignition switch witch could explain muliple circuit problems due to open circuit in a battery or ignition switch power source. I was an automotive mechanic for years now I work on heavy equipment so I hope that this will apply to help you and you can get to scoot'n soon. By the way I'm buying the same scooter so stay in touch...later leschichi@yahoo.com
