I found a 2005 Burgman 400 for sale with 7000 miles. $3000.00 Does this sound like a reasonable price? And what should I be looking for as far as problems go in a scoot with that amount of miles and of that age. Please give me some advice you Burgman dawgs.

Heck, that's just broken in. I don't really know about the Burgman maintenance schedule, but if it looks good and you decide to get it, it wouldn't hurt to check the belt and the valve lash. You might want to ask on the Maxi-Scooters forum, there are a bunch of folks who own or have owned them there. www.maxi-scoots.com/postnuke/index.php

For 3k you should probably go take a look at it. 7k on a Burgman is not that much. Sounds like a good price to me.

Probably a good price if it is in good condition. Ask for records of maintenance. Don't know first hand but have heard the 400 engines required a little more effort in maintenance than the current version. Not necessarily a bad thing, just that an improvement was made. A lot of bike for the price!

I took Saturday morning to go and take a look at the Burgman 400. This is a nice sharp scoot. No scratches or dings. The engine was smooth and powerful. What a difference from my Eurosport 150i. Now for the bad... this scoot is BIG, even bigger than my friends Reflex clone. I went to turn around at an intersection on a test ride and it took up two lanes plus, to get it turned around. Other that that it's a sweet ride. Smooth and fast. Now I have to decide if I want to give up maneuverability for power and speed.

In 06 or 07 the Burger 400 got a big redesign. The became a Dual Over Head Cam and picked up a few cc's. Supposedly it got more power and better gas mileage. Don't hold me to that, I don't own one. But those changes aside, the original 400 is highly respected for is reliability. I would definitely recommend checking out the burgman forums. They are highly active and they LOVE their bikes. Any thing you could want to know they can answer. burgmanusa.com/forums/index.phpGood luck, Bear

I took the plunge and bought the Burger 400 last night. I will pick it up Saturday morning. I will have a good test ride on the ride home as it is a 80 mile trek back to my house. I will update soon. The question of what to do with my RX150i Eurojet has been answered as my soon to be son in law has decided to purchase it, so it will still be" all in the family" for me to ride when ever I want.....BECAUSE I SAY!

12string; Congrats on your find! Don't think you will regret it. If you find you still like a small scoot for local runs, either keep your 150 or get another cheap Chinese scoot.

My soon to be son in law is buying my Eurojet so it will be kept close, we will swap scoots on a regular basis I'm sure. As i ride to work on a regularly he tels me to be careful with HIS scoot even though he has not paid me yet. I won't take any money until I pick up the "Blue Burger " Saturday.I want to keep it until the last second.

Sounds like your moving on up. I think you will love the 400. They just fell better at speed and the Bergi has a very good reputation. When I was moving up to a 400 I found a dealer that had both and took the wife. She was the determining factor. She liked to seat on the Yamaha a little more. When momma's happy everybody's happy..........
Back in 70's I owned a '72 380 and '73 750 Water cooled Suzuki and both proved to be great bikes. No problem with either. Very fast, very reliable. I believe they still make a great product.

Burgmans are pretty darn good scoot. Like you said though they are big! more like 2wheeled land-yacts. But if you can apreciate a caddilac for it's appointments, a Burg will do you quite well.

Nice catch, 12string. You will like the burger, your butt will love you for it as well. going from a 150 to a 400 is a big jump but worth it in the long run for long distance riding. Less repairing and more riding as well. Good luck with the ride.
