are the people who own this model scooter happy with it and what problems have you encountered ? I found a distributer that has a few of them in a certain color and he wants to sell them before years end. He told me $1787 shipped to my door. Is that a good price ? Thanks

I got mine a month ago.Paid just over $1900. I love it. I've never ridden a scooter or motorcycle before so I can't do any comparisons. But, here is what I've encountered so far. Crating sucked- the metal frame twisted and put several gouges. Nothing major though. Changed all the fluids and it started right up. Noticed the headlight would weaken and brighten with vibration. Checked voltage all week and sometimes it would keep charge sometimes not. So I found the molex connectors for the lights (marked with a 3) and the green wire was loose. I taped to hold it tight inside and applied die electric grease. Then I did the same to all the connectors that I could reach inside the panel above the oil dipstick. Since then it has kept charge and the lights don't flickr at all. I have almost 500 miles on it now. The first 100 were parking lot learning to drive it. With gps the speedo is .04 mph fast. Which makes the odometer pretty close. I'm not a big fan of easy breakin, so I did WOT a bit. I'm 6'2 275lbs. I've had it to 65 with it seems a little bit more to go. Size wise with sneakers I fit comfortable, workboots a little tight. The radio? use the mp3 instead unless you want to mount an external antenna. The only problem I'm having right now is the front brake handle. It pushes in a little plunger. The handle is a bit loose and when I squeeze it it grabs the front brakes hard enough that if I was at speed it would flip me. If I lift up on it it goes in smoothly. I've tried to tighten the handle but when I do that it seems to tighten it to the spot that makes it grab. Will work on that next week. hope that helps !

All in all it sounds like you got a very good unit there mafunaslow! I would call the dealer and try for a replacement for that brake handle, brakes are nothing to fool around with! Just being the handle, they should not object. It might have gotten whacked while in transit, who knows, but to me the most important thing on any thing that moves is its ability to STOP moving predictably and certainly! Kool ride all things considered, hope it continues to be a jewel!

Manfunsalaw, I have had my MC-54 for about 4 months now and love it too. I had the same issue with my front brake as well, when I got the scooter flushed all the fluids and replaced but I didnt replace the brake fluid, but about a month ago with the front brake problem I went ahead and flushed my front brake and relaced all of the fluid, it works so much better, nice and smooth. So I would replace and bleed the front brakes because the way it acted I thought the handle was bent or the plunger bad but sure enough it was the cheap chinese fluid.

Since the owners manual is so wrong about most things on these bikes, what would you replace the brake fluid with, Dot3 or the newest Dot5? whats the difference anyway? Also has anyone tried using the 150K mile Dex-Cool stuff GM uses in their cars? I would if I knew it wouldn't mess nothing up, and never worry about that end of the bike again.

I have had my MC250-B for almost a month. I have over4r 500 miles on it. Lots of back roads in Texas. I love the scooter. I ride a Yamaha Royal Star Venture and this is more fun. I get a lot of fun loving crap from my friends but hey, in fun ;D The only problem I have is the ignition switch went tits up on the first day. The remote start works fine and I am waiting on a new switch from Valley motors. The fit and finish is great, runs great. Did change all fluids to include the brake fluid. I took the little so called ABS brake thing off the front brake and it works great now. Not sure what it was supposed to do but it kept the brake from working like it should. Have a great day Jim

Poohbear, thanks! I hope it keeps being a jewel too.But if not. I'm in a great position, as I work for an auto vo-tech school. So the majority of my coworker friends are ASE certified. And since I can control the weather in their rooms, they will be more than happy to fix what I cant. That's why when I ordered it color didn't matter, I can have it painted what I want for free as a class project. I'll be waiting for a student to come thru who's artistic and into airbrushing. Lubejob66- thanks for the heads up on the fluid. I can't ride for another week due to the ol' myocardial infarction thing, but you're right , feels bent or faulty pin then it grabs hard. Our chassis instructor wanted to look at the brake system on it when I got it ,so I'll have him look at it and do what you said.

Solesurvivor,
I have been an importer for many brands of scoots for the last few years and in my experience and according to the dealers I do business with, the Roketa MC-54-250 is the best scoot for the money. As you can see by my user name, I love mine!
This is the second one I have had. I have also had many other brands and sizes over the years, and for an adult that wants to scoot in traffic in the 45mph range, I would not recommend anything else!
The first one I got was last year. Out of the damaged crate (all of these crates seem to be damaged, even when I visited the factories, they were damaged before shipping!), I had to some minor assembly. With my son helping, we got it set up and scootin' within 60 minutes.
I put 17,540 miles on this scoot in 11 months, riding on the weekends with my wife and son, and sometimes taking it to work on nice days. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!
Now I do have to qualify that! My son is an MC mechanic, and we had to locktite a bunch of stuff at first. I also added a volt meter and he replaced the fuse box right away. The advise from the dealers I broker for is, change the oil in the engine every 400 miles, change the crank case oil every thousand, and change the radiator fluid on delivery as well as the brake fluid and bleed the brakes. My son added a bleeder valve to the brakes and the radiator.
This scoot got totaled last month by a tractor trailer and I was sorry to see it hauled off to the junk yard, but I just ordered a brand new one that arrived yesterday. Time to start over!
I think this time I am going to order more accessories, like crome and things to dress it up along with a custom paint job.
I can tell you that my son was VERY impressed with the value for the dollar on this scoot, and in fact, he bought one for his girlfriend. Me, my wife, my son, and sometimes his girlfriend go riding every weekend, usually to the beach or down on the bayou, and my experience with the scoot has been very positive.
If you want the name of a dealer that has a great reputation, will sell you the scoot delivered for under 2K for the touring edition, and always has all the parts in stock (Also gives a free 12 month warranty), just PM me here and I'll give your number. I don't want to advertise it since I'm new here and I'm not sure of the policies.
IMHO, the Roketa is the best looking, best performing, best riding scoot for the money!

brake fluid is extremely hydroscopic, meaning it will absorb water. put some in a clear glass jar and then apply a drop of fluid. you will see that it blends in. DOT 5 resist this better. as for the coolant the green stuff is silicate based and the red stuff is acid based. upgrading to red is not good. Infact i,ve seen more E.C.D., problems with red...Electro Chemical Degredation. if its green just leave it green. ECD is a product voltage grounding thru your cooling system combined with a galvanizing affect of water against aluminum creating corrosion in your cooling system ie...a whiteish crusty stuff under radiator caps and where ever coolant may have been seeping for a long period of time. you can test for ECD with a digital volt meter that capable of measureing milivolts. ground black lead to battery negative place positive lead into fluid in radiator, then start engine with rear wheel off ground achieve 1500 rpm (or close) if the reading is below 300 milivolts your ok. ride safe!

UPDATE ON LAST POST
Okay, so now it's 11 days since I got my new scoot and no paperwork yet! A little disappointing! The last 2 I bought from this dealer had the paperwork mailed the same day. I called today and they said, "Oh, we'll get that out to you in a few days"... I don't think so! I spoke to a stupidvisor and he assured me it would go out tomorrow.
So, now it's ready to go and I couldn't resist. It started on the first try, as if the starter barely cranked it and, like the last one, it runs a little rough. It took about 300 miles for the last one to smooth out.
The fit and finish is really flawless, except for an annoying rattle from the dash. I have 66 illegal miles on it now (it is insured), and I really like the english version, MPH instead of km. After hearing this rattle, I knew I couldn't live with it, so I started to disassemble the dash part by part while it was at idle. Turns out the cover on the wind screen was the culpret and I put two pieces of spongy double faced tape on it and reassembled it. That did the trick and the tape is under the fiberglass cover, so you can't see it.
I like the fact that this one did not have the Roketa stickers on it. The only way to tell is the MC-54-250 stickers on the back. The VIN plate says, "Jonway".
For now, it's running like a champ, although, when it's hot, it takes about 3 seconds to kick off and I have to give it a little throttle. The cooling fan seems to run a lot more than my last one, but I haven't changed the coolent yet... still waiting on my son!
I'll keep you all updated as I go. Hopefully we can get some mods done this weekend...

yellowscoot,i would not use dex-cool.it eats up the gasket and corrodes the waterpump and all that's asscoated with it. I have had major engine problems with my car because I used Dex-Cool as instructed by the manual. It ate up the gasket and allowed coolant to leak into the engine. I have spent thousands of dollars trying to get this fixed.

As I have posted other times, I highly recommend using Zerex G-05 coolant. It was specifically formulated for Mercedes and some other Euro cars in the 1980s and is designed to reduce internal cooling system damage. Read the info on the back of the container. Auto Zone near me has it for $10.99/gal.
