I may be buying one of these soon and was curious if anybody owns one and what they think of it. It looks like a nice scooter and even has am/fm c.d player...They are going for a buy it now price on ebay of $1499 which is in my price range of affordability.
I asked about this scooter in one other thread but it seems that I was only getting responses by people who are guessing/assuming about the reliability of this scooter. Id rather hear from people who own it or have direct expirience with it and can give factual opinions on it.
Thanks.......

I bought one just a week ago from possible the same company. The scoot runs good, but I did not get what the picture showed. The seat is an ungly red that the pictures did not show. They told me it was because it came out of California. They have not been responsive to my emails since.

Please tell me a bit more about your scooter....like what do you weigh/ your height and how fast will it pull you....and if you feel like there is plenty of room. Also, how does the sound system sound when you are riding on the road/highways ?

The tempature guage is not working correctly and they wil not let me know whaqt to do to correct the problem. But the sale went smooth and I am over all happy with the scoot. The cd player skips with evey bump so I am putting in a different player. I have 65 miles on it and enjoy it highly. To be honest with the lack of communication since the sale I will probably try EVO sales for my next scoot.

Because I am still in the break in period I only got it up to 70 mph for just a second just to find out if it would really go that fast.

I have one and I positively love it. This is my second JMStar product. Basically, they did a decent job assembling it. But I had to make a few low cost changes. And believe me, you WILL have to make them. Go see my post titled Photos of my MC-54-250. Mine came from allnewsports.

The stickers on the bodies of our PM250s say Baron, but the manufacturer's plates say Shanghai JMStar Motorcycles. Can't vouch for the JMStar brand quality but Baron says they spec'd for higher quality parts in theirs (better grade of plastics, Bando belts, better electricals, etc). Still came with a crappy owner's manual that appears to be a copy of a Tank. The electrical diagram (that I'm still trying to find) has parts that didn't even come with the Baron (radio, alarm, voltmeter) and seem to be for an air cooled engine.

Mikeyscootin, Maybe you can get your dealer to pull the carb and solve what may be the real culprit:
I did the electronic fuel pump upgrade; it worked for a couple of weeks, but crapped out 40 miles from home. After getting it into my garage and attempting to start it unsuccessfully, I took off all the damned bodywork and other pieces to pull the carb.
The float bowl was completely empty, so something must have been blocking the supply (I did the stupid test of verifying that the pump was pumping). So while I saw nothing in blowing out the internal channel, it did start right up after reassembly. Now if I can just figure out where all the stinking water hoses go to on this thing, I'll try to get it reassembled and back on the road.

I have one of these 250cc scooters...I got mine from evo, Mine is the RoadRunner Road Queen, I love the scooter, it runs good, but as everyone else says.....you have a few things to "fix" on just about anything you get. The only real problem I've had with mine is the back break sticks REALLY BAD! I went to take my test at the drivers license facility and had to do the part where you start at one point and go up to 20mph then stop asap......well, my back break failed me, and I dumped the scoot, failing my test! I haven't figured out what the problem is yet, but will. Other than that.....its great. This poor thing has taken a couple of dumpings, and never hesitates to start right back up with no problems. I would highly recommend it.

I have a JM-STAR ROADSTER 250 I purchased from ALL NEW SPORTS and am well pleased with it, after the changes I made that I put in previous post to correct the fuel problem. It now has 460 miles on it, after riding it 130 miles at the SCOOTER ENCOUNTER this week end at ORLANDO FL. At this time I will say I would buy again.

I have a jmstar baron 250 decaled "Hammer 2.5". Bought it used off this forum, spent 4 weeks on and off chasing electrical problems, finally replaced the cdi box, removed and degreased the stator, opened the harness up and soldered 3 or 4 wiring junctions, redid the 6-18 ga into 1-18 ga ground wire lashup and seem to have a pretty good scoot. It is dated 8/2006, the tire valve stems need to be replaced, other than that no safety issues. Centerstand drags on moderate right hand turns, shocks are junk but useable. On the fuel starvation issue that people complain about, mine has a remote fuel bowl mounted under the front of the seat that is fed by the pump that then feeds the carb. Have seen no fuel problems yet.

listen up guys... the fuel starvation problems start when you think your scooter is broke in enough to go fast.. as fast as it will go.. you go on the expressway and go from one exit to the next...maybe even two.. ok so now your up to 74 mps and its purring along.. you think yes.. this is so cool.. then all of a sudden it feels like god is behind you with a rope tied to your back end tugging on you.. real hard... and you think..what the f.... and now you let off the throttle..and you are trying to determine if you are stalled out or not.. but then around 60 mph you can tell its still running.. and you speed up a little cause you are on a 70 mph highway...... now your close to 70 again.. and it starts to choke again..... and then its ok all of a sudden.. then you got it up to 72 and you think.. hey it was just a burp.. its all ok now.. hey 72 is enough speed.. i'll keep it here... now all the sudden...god yanks real hard and all the lights go out.. and you are totally dead............ its dark... people are passing you and the bugs are eating you.. hope i can get this thing started again... not the first 4 or 5 times.. its like the battery is dead... oh wait.. a little life.... it almost started.. no i think its really dead.. glad i have my cell phone... i 'll try it once more.. oh wow.. it started... cool... lets go.. back up to 65 mph..... a slight tug from behind.. ok.. i'll back off... i wanna make it home.. so i go to 60 and keep it there.. till i get off the highway.........
now my friends..this is after i have spent 600+ on parts and labor replacing everything mentioned on this site.. less the electronic fuel pump.. and yes, he took the carburator apart and said it was fine..... he took it for a ride.. a very short one albeit and he thought he had fixed the problem... now its being shipped back to detroit and the dealerships man is gonna have a go at it... good luck.. its a pretty bike if it will work the way it is supposed to.. i hope they fix the junky plastic around the center of the steering wheel while they are at it.. what a piece of junk... i have my steering wheel taped together. figured that was the least of my problems........ mike... i hate to hear guys say their scoots are perfect when they get them... i had no idea about my problems till i started to really ride it.. i had about 5 minutes of thinking i had made a great purchase..

I am considering buying this scooter from Scootertronics in the upcoming weeks. I see the post would this be recommended from those of you who own this model? It's either thie Expressway 250 or shell out money for a Honda Reflex.

I have one, 2006, has 7800 miles on it. (1100 on the new engine), cant take the Phx heat overheats at a cool 90 degrees. Fried the motor when the temp hit 115. More electrical problems than you can count, no signals now. Brake light switches wore out at 3000, so I made up a hand switch. Cheap to buy though, fun to ride, and gets about 65 miles per gallon. I no longer ride it over 62 mph afraid it will blow up again.
I wish I would have read the post " New to Scooters? Read This!! « Thread Started on Jun 11, 2007, 6:34pm.
I would have held out for a better quality scooter.

I have the Roketa MC 54 and it was made by jmstar. I really like this scoot now, but would not recommend it to someone who does not have wrench-a-bility. I did a lot of pre-maintenance, which it the part I enjoy. Assembly is pretty shoddy, especially the electrical and cooling systems.
