I have a friend that purchased a MC-54-250B The max RPM's that he is able to obtain is 6,000. The engine continues to build RPM's without the tach needle moving .His top speed is 68 MPH. I do not believe that his tach is correct. My Eurojet runs 9000 at 64MPH. Max HP on the 250 is rated at 7500 RPM, what are you other dawgs running and at what speed. Thanx for your help

Maybe there arent many people on this forum who own that specific scooter and thats why no responses ? Other then that probelm you listed, has there been any other problems with the scooter and how mnay miles does the MC-54 have on it ?
I have a chance to buy one of these scooters brand new and delivered for $1787.....did your friend pay less then that ? Thanks

Sounds like your tach is unreliable, since your post says the tach pegs out but the rpm keeps increasing. Have you considerd investing in a Tiny Tach? For arounf $40, that should give you reliable rpm readings. www.tinytach.com/tinytach/gasoline.phpOther similar devices are out there, some a bit cheaper. Gary

There are many members that like me, do not have a tach. Some came stock with one, many did not.
Helix does not come with one, and I have no real reason to add one. If I did have one, I would help where possible.
Good luck!

If the revs continue to increase and the tach stays in one place, the the tach is defective. If the scoot is running fine, dont even worry about the tach, just enjoy the ride. Also, if the tachs are that quirky, what other scoots are showing on their gages is prob off too. Art

Thanks dawgs, I was just wanting to know what the other 250's are topping out at RPM wise. My friend paid $1999.00 delivered, from www.scootersus.com/index.html Prices have since gone up. The dealer ,John , stands behind his scoots. He is one of the good guys. It's worth the few hundred bucks to have dealer peace of mind. We will probably disassemble the tach to see why it is hanging up, probably a piece of molded plastic sticking out somewhere.

Could be, I doubt it will be anything Id trust if it's been hung that long tough... That might have damaged the spring. If the chinese speedometers are any indication, I cant imagine the tachs are any better...

Hi,
My last MC-54-250 ran (top end) 75mph with carb jets replaced by my son (an MC mechanic). At 70mph, I seem to remember it being at 7200-7300rpms.
Hope that helps.
