Just wondering if I should be concerned about the long-term effect of sunlight on the LCD display of the bike computer on my scoot. The display is exposed to sunlight pretty much every day during the week while I'm at work. Somewhere I thought I've read or heard that long-term exposure like this can cause the display to turn black. The folks at Sigmasport said that the LCD would be OK as long as it did not get too hot <120F), but I'm still a bit dubious.
Any one have any personal experience with this one way or the other? Thanks! Gary

Certain GPS and Depth Finders screens will black out or go blank if the sun hits them right. As for the scoot end of it, I have not had that problem so far but I also try to park in the shade as much as possible for the other things (seat, trunk, ect.) on the scoot to keep cool. I also have a cover that I put on the scoot to keep the sunlight and dirt off when not riding it. If you don't have a cover or a place in the shade, use a white terry towel to cover the display or the display console at least that would keep that part cool. A light colored cover would be much better in the long run. they rund about $30 to $70 each. I use a Dowco Large Scooter cover for mine.

My Helix had an LCD display. After 18 years it was still OK.
