Pretty well fills the only hole Kymco had in their lineup. Looks like it could compare well with a Silverwing or Burgman.
Makes me wonder if the maxi-scoot market is really so large that it would justify the chunk of resources needed to develop and market their new 700. I rarely see 400cc and up scooters around here. How much could they have improved some of their 50-250cc scoots with those same resources?
I find it hard to make sense of the current scooter market. Major Japanese makers sit on the sidelines with extremely limited offerings while 50-150cc scooter sales seem to be increasing rapidly. It is not like they can't compete in those size markets. Cheap Chinese and Taiwan dirt bikes have been available for quite a while and the big 4 Japanese makers seem to have no problem selling a range of 50-200cc dirt bikes.
Wouldn't it have been more exciting if Kymco was introducing a new direct-injection 2-stroke 150? How about a 50-250cc personal scoot with storage/backrest instead of a passenger seating area? Maybe adding normal fuel injection to some of their current scoots like yours? So many possibilities regarding bread and butter models seem to have been sacrificed in order to join a small club of makers offering the top end.
Looks like a nice scoot. I think they could have done better.

I think that it depends on your region. In my area most of the scooters are 400cc and up. Burgman's and Majesty's and a few morphous's. I hardly ever see scooters that are 150 and below.

Yikes! Looks like a Sinister version of the Burgman...like the color scheme. 170km/hr, huh??? that's about 105mph...plenty fast...but will they sell it here, and at what price?

Where is the heavy big scoot population? Not where I live, motorcycles of every type, scooters are just now making a presence, and most of these are the 50cc variety, and some 150cc ones that folks don't bother to register... . I was in a dealership the other day, Kymco, Suzuki, Aprillia, and Schwinn. On the floor were one 50cc of each brand of Kymcco, Aprillia, and Schwinn. There were 3 Kymco 250cc models, and one 400cc Suzki. The rest of the inventory was about 50 motorcycles of various sizes. I asked the sales guy why they had so few 50cc scoots and NO 150cc or 125cc. He said outright that they sold every 150 they had, and had orders for the ones coming in, and the same with the 50cc models.

I look forward to seeing this hit the market. I want to see stats first though. I love my Xciting 500 very much, but would not hesitate on a 700 depending on the weight, mileage, and tire size. The new additions to it are very cool. One thing for sure, it would have no problems at all running out around the mountains here. I have not been able to try out my Xciting on the big stuff yet, but I hear reports of zero problems. If a 250 can do it (and I have reports of that as well) man a 700 would be choice. I'd have to do the same basic upgrades to it that I have already done to the Xciting.

Brake flasher, mounting my top box with home made light kit, air horn, ISO grips, Givi windshield (used only during the cooler months). I already have my dealer on notice, they will let me know when they have any more info on it so I can start to plan on color choice and what-not.

Hmmm, I think its less about the market, and more about Kymco's aspersions. It looks like they're trying to offer a product line that matches what the Japanese have to offer, remember, Taiwan brands are often favorably compared to the Japanese at a better price, so this is most definitely coming here.

A lot of people have large scooters around here in our area. On many of our local rides we get several large engine displacement scooter riders too. They have to slow down a lot for us small engine scooter riders.

LOL, there was a guy around some of the forums that installed a regular car style Flow Master muffler to the system, but said it was LOUD. Nah, I like it the way it is for the most part right now. I did install the iridium spark plug, and when my weights wear out I'll put in the sliding ones. That is if that is before the second year that the 700i is out. I am concerned about the first year having one to many bugs.
