As a dealer/Mechanic, I have strived to make sure my customers are happy. I do my best to go over them with as much care as like I will be using it. I can not control what I get from the facotry or what the Engineers in China do or don't do. I have to adapt and over come what is tossed at me. Which brings me to this minor problem I have come across and need to share with the rest of the Dawg community.
On the Tank 250DE, there is a new designed Evap Canister that is vaccum operated and could cause that type of scooter to go into a heavy lean/neg crankcase vaccum condition. Making the scooter have poor idle and a put put sound at any kind of gas being applied to it. If this was a isolated incident, I would just put it down as a bad one, but with the 3 out of 3 I went and got last week doing the exact same thing. I feel it is nessesary to inform you all on this. I also informed Tank about this.
This applies to any California modle being sold for 2007. I will say this about the new model that I found to be a massive improvement, They relocated the fuel tank to under the seat, eliminating the restricted fuel flow to the radiator, making for better cooling of them.

In general, the additions currently being used for CARB approval don't seem to have been well thought out. I had to disconnect mine (2 Bandit 150cc scooters) because with a full tank of gas, any bump or sudden stop will slosh a little gas into the canister. The gas then gets sucked into the carburetor, effectively flooding -- and stopping -- the engine. Most uncool at a busy intersection.
A better design shouldn't be that difficult.
