Hi all. I have a JMStar MC-54-250 which I think is excellent so far. It has the 244 honda clone engine in it and the 13 inch wheels. I have 800 miles on it, and have done all the extra PM on it, Dex-Cool antifreeze, Mobil 1 Synthetic 10W-40, new spark plug, and a few other things. I even made a special screwdriver to adjust the low speed mixture on the bottom of the carb . I had to open ( lean ) it out 1/4 turn. Now it runs excellent. I do have one problem, however. The temp guage reads almost full hot, even when engine is cold. After running a few minutes, the temp guage is now at full hot and needle is pinned. I removed the wire to the temp sensor, and the guage reads cold, as it should. I shorted that same wire to ground, and the guage now reads full hot. Then I measured the temp sensor cold, and it was about 410 ohms, which is normal. The resistance goes down as the engine warms up. A new sensor made no change. The fan and it's sensor switch are operating normally. The engine is running at the proper temp. So I put a 470 ohm resistor in the wire and now the temp guage reads pretty close to normal, except I know it will not read too high even if the engine should start to overheat. It will only go up about 1/8 scale. Anyone have any ideas on this one??
