I have both a Kymco and Sym dealer within 5 miles of my house. I 've taken a ride on both bikes at the dealership. Both bikes are very high quality. I'm really having a tough time deciding which way to go. Does anybody have any suggestions or any information about either bike that I should know before I make my final decision. I'm going to take another week to decide. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Howdy jadog! Lee has an ongoing review of the Kymco XC250 here on the forum. He has a friend (a Honda Reflex owner) ride the XC and give his impressions. It looks like a win/win situation for you...both bikes are a great choice. Jim from Bandit Motorsports has the RV 250 on his site www.bandit-motorsports.com. Good luck and Congrats! John

And I'll counter that by saying go with Kymco, I have one and it's awesome, so much better than my Piaggio.
I know Kymco's are excellent scooters and Sym is supposed to be in the same class so it will all come down to which you like best, cost and warranty.
Good luck and post some pictures when you pick!

From what I can gather, and I own neither SYM or Kymco, it would be a real difficult choice, the SYM might be a better deal price wise, as they are newer to the market, but you can see that right there on the showroom floor if that is the case. The Kymco is just better known, has an established dealer network, and may temporarily have a better resale value if you were to need to dispose of it. "Tuff Call" I think a lot of folks would love to have such a dilemma!!

jadog23,
Yeah, I looked at this for a couple of days... I have to hand Kymco the length of time in country (fully established), level of dealer support (lots of them), and probably resale value based on name recognition...
But I give styling and features to SYM... the RV-250 has a 4-valve, ceramic cylinder engine (power and longevity). The RV also has some cool little 'trinket' features throughout the bike but Kymco probably has their fair share of those as well. Each one has it's own styling so that comes down to what appeals to you...
Both have about the same warranty - 2-year limited... and if you have a local dealer for both brands that are that close to you, this factor may be 'awash'...
Comparing prices - the Kymco has a MSRP of $4,899 vs the SYM at $4,399... so there should be a $500 delta between the two to SYM's favor wherever you buy one. I sell the SYM 'out the door' less title for $4,299... but I would guess that with freight, prep, taxes and title, a purchase would add about $600-700 to both price tags...
For the price, features (power), and warranty... I went with the RV-250. He is the 'new guy in town'... but it's not like SYM hasn't been doing this for a long time...
My 2.5 cents... ( - ;
Thanks, Jim J... Bandit MotorSports
