well after much researching and brousing i decided i want....nay i need a scooter but after reading so many posts i dont know what to get i just want them all. i was thinking at least 250cc for short highway use. i was looking to spend around 2500 but can probably go as high as 3000 (depending if i can convince the wife). i was hoping for something with decent storage space and pretty good speed i was wondering if any one knew anything about the MC-D54 260cc i dont know who makes it but here is the link that i found it at www.powersportsmax.com/product_info.php/cPath/38/products_id/616i have also been thinking about the Aeolus RX300 . i read alot of good stuff about this one but was also told that it is one that i should pass on. i found it at www.extreme-scooters.com/aeolus-300cc_scooter_New.htm for 2599.00 and was wondering if anyone knows about this sites reputation if they are good for business or not. or if anyone can reccomend anything else in this price range it would be greatly appreciated. well thank you all in advance for any information dan

I suppose you want a scooter style (step through) as opposed to a MC style. If interested in the MC style consider the cruiser style CFMOTO V5/Qlink Legacy or the sport bike CFMOTO V3/QLINK Sapero. Both are at your price range and are definitely good bikes. However no built in storage being MCs.

I have a 250 and find it fine for 'short highway use.' The 300 would give you a bit more margin.
Either way, realize that for $2,000 (or $2,500) you are not going to get the quality of a $5,500 scooter, and you may have some problems at first. But if you have the ability and desire to work through these mostly minor issues, you'll probably come out happy with your purchase. I'm certainly very happy now with mine. Gary

i am pretty mechanically inclined. and i enjoy putting things together and trying to fix things and if i cant i have friends who spend much of their time tinkering with engines so it shouldnt be a problem. i really was thinking about a burgman 400/650, yamaha majesty 400 or a honda reflex but just not in my budget right now although it doesnt hurt to dream. i have about 6 months till i get home from iraq so i have time to decide but by then you know there will new stuff out and new decisions to make.
so does anyone have any opinion on either of those stores i really dont wanna by buy from an unreliable source

From my limited knowledge. Step through scooters from Yamaha and Honda are available in the 250 to 400 range and you get a real dealer and local service. You will go $5000 plus however. Zhongneng is a decent scooter line in the Chinese import line which could be internet or local dealer purchased in some cases. $2000 or so will cover you in the purchase price. This line of scooters is one of the better Chinese import brands and usually only have a few of the more minor issues to be dealt with. You'll find them discussed on the boards here. Good luck and wishing you a great trip home soon.

Take a loot at Bandit Motorsports, they are a well trusted online (but they also have a real brick and mortar dealership) dealer.

Provo; Welcome to the Dawg Pound. Out of curiosity, who told you to stay away from the Aeolus 300 and why? Have you read my thread on the (Linhai) Super Strada 300? (http://scootdawg.proboards59.com/index.cgi?board=200cc&action=display&thread=1185566326) That is the same machine as the Aeolus 300. The Linhai 300 scoots are marketed under three names, that I know of, at this time. the Linhai Mainstreet is the third.
"Bikernuc", a member of this forum, also has one. Both of us have around 350 miles on our scoots. His was purchased from a Brick-n-Mortar dealer near his home and mine was purchased drop-ship through John Dikov, a respected dealer and member of this forum, at Valley Scooters (http://scootersus.com/index.html)
Linhai has partnered with Yamaha since the early 1990s and builds the Linhai 300 series under agreement with Yamaha. The 300 series is based on an earlier model of the Majesty. The quality of design, materials and construction of the Linhai is much higher than my previous Chinese scoots built with outsourced parts by assemblers. The 300 series was offered last year at prices ranging from $3500 to $3900. It was poorly marketed and most folks wouldn't spend more than the mid-$2K spot for a Chinese scoot. This year many dealers dropped the price to $3K or below. Some are still listing it for $3500. These are '06 models. If you are considering this price range, size, style and power range, I don't think you can beat the deal.

Take a loot at Bandit Motorsports, they are a well trusted online (but they also have a real brick and mortar dealership) dealer. Ditto on Bandit Motorsport, B&M Dealer as well as online sales, with good support. Check out the following link, a Yamaha Majesty clone also with the Linhai/Yamaha 257cc engine. They now also carry Q-link which is a well respected brand with good warranty and Sym which is new to the US but very well reviewed in Europe for a many years. All the best in your scoot search and keep us up to date. Andi
