Anyone out there ever transport a Helix in the back of a pick-up truck?? Could someone who has a Helix (or Clone) please measure from the wheel cover down to the ground??
The reason I ask is I'm considering a long drive to pick up a used Helix. When I purchased my Wife's Pegasus the seller helped me load it into my truck and he helped me tie it down. It fit very snug with the front wheel jammed at a 45 degree angle into one corner of the bed and the straps from the back rack running down into my tie downs in the back of the bed.
Well I noticed in the pictures of the Helix that the front wheel cover (fender?) extends past the front tire. If this does not clear (go over) over the side walls of my pick up bed then jamming the tire wont work. Clearly I cant jam the wheel cover.
If someone has experience with this, or could even measure the wheel cover to the ground that would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bear

Even if you must leave the tailgate down, on the center stand and securely strapped down, the scoot should be fine. My dealer friend delivers his scoots on an open flatbed trailer.

Thanks for the encouragement. I don't like the center stand, it seem that it would be more secure with both tires down. But I'll give it a shot. Actually that's the way I prefer to strap em in.... on both wheels. I've never trailered my Helix, but I have trailered or loaded two other scooters and a number of motorcycles(one at a time) in a truck. Strapping em in on both wheels, your compressing the springs when you cinch em down. Always seems more secure to me.
Mines 18 1/2" from the bottom of the nose to the ground. That's on the kickstand, but I don't think you could count on any more than that with the springs compressed some... maybe less.
You could probably make some sort of a chock or frame to keep it from going too far into the corner. The way you hauled the Pegasus is the way I do it unless I have to haul two at a time... and I've only done that once.
