I have read that the Honda Helix can go well over 100,000 miles. My question is, how many miles has anyone here got on the CF Moto 244cc engine? Can they stand up to the same use as the original? ?

Rnrperry98; Just may be too soon to say. Will need a few years of owner feed-back. I was told by a CFMoto tech that the engines are assembled with Japanese and American parts. Don't know about that but they do seem to be relatively solid and trouble-free. Since the larger engine may not be ridden WOT as much as a 150 engined scoot, that alone may contribute to longer engine life. I wouldn't expect Honda longevity. When I was young and "stupider", I had a Honda Dream 150 4-speed cycle. That little engine would scream all the way up to 60 mph in 2nd gear. The red line on rpms in those days was not mid to upper teens like on some of the crotch rockets today. The Honda was calculated to be doing near 12K at that speed in 2nd! Never blew the engine but it couldn't have improved it's life expectancy, either.

That is a good question there rnrperry98. I wish I had a good answer but I don't. Your question also makes me wonder how much variety there is in production of cfmoto and linhai 250 engines. Are they produced in a smaller number of factories that would make them easier to keep track of than gy6 150 engines? Do the 250's have any more consistency in quality from maker to maker than the gy6?

Hillbilly; Those are good questions. Since the engines are purchased from either CFMoto or Linhai, we would hope production quality and consistency is better. That was supposed to be one of the advantages to purchasing a scoot with these power trains. Have never seen information on the web about that!

The CF244 engine has been around from the mid 1980s in ATVs and just since 05 in scooters. There are some on my website with 4000 miles and no problems so far.

Hello, I own a 2005 Cfmoto Freedom 250 I love it. Over 4000 mile and it' going strong. It will compare to the Honda helix and better (more power)then the 2005 and on Helix. At the price they sell for the Helix has no chance. The engine has been out since 1989 it is well proven. Fact is it's made to the Honda spec's. See them at BJspricebuster.com/ Best China made bike.
