Had my People 250S in for first service at 500 miles. Here is what they found:
NOTHING.
Everything was as it should be, valves-carb-timing-plug and yada, yada, yada.
The engine noise I have been experiencing, like valve rattle, is NOT THE VALVES. It's exhaust rattle out the pipe. Been changing octane's like crazy for nothing. they said 87 oct is good. 89 if you want.
I'm tellin you, this is one great scoot. heavy-rides great-great away from the light, beats the reflex. heavy on top end at 77 mph so far but ain't broke in yet.
the 06 matrix was at the dealr 4 times in 500 miles to get stuff fixed. so glad i changed.

Twister; I think you can expect the same as the miles pile up! Congrats.

I a mvery glad I bought the People 250, also. I really don't think I'd have enjoyed working on a scooter.
Quick question, why the S? It's personal preference, of course, but I found the seat to be horribly uncomfortable.

Have a Kymco Xciting 500 that I am getting next week but also need a 250 to take down south for the winter and leave it there. Looking at the Xciting 250 and the Grand Touring 250. Did you have any experience with either of them I had the Peoples S 200 but would like the full windshield of the other two. Need your advice. Thanks.

I got the S b/c I liked its style better. The S also has dual disc rotors on the front instead of a single, and a more powerful engine over the regular people. How do I know the S has a more powerful engine? The shop manual lists the power ratings for both engines.

Yup, I heard that it has a bit more power, as does the Xciting 250. I like the seat and the style of the regular People better and can live with the power

here is why:
the 250S has more room for long legs. sits a bit higher which I like. also like the looks. has more power.
only had it up to 75 MPH so far. not broke in yet.
grand vista was too small for me.
250S seat for me is very comfy. stick to it better and don't sweat.
Givi makes a touring windscreen for the 250S that's above my head and I'm 6 ft. - 1 inch. great looking and works great. helps stabilize the scoot.

I didn't know the S had more leg room and according to the specs I saw, the seat height on the S is lower than on the regular People. Regardless, I agree with you, you can't go wrong with a Kymco.
I just had my 300 km service done, absolutely nothing to report, other than hitting 65 indicated with the throttle barely open. I was going to take it on it's first long ride, 80 miles round trip, but have a listing appointment tomorrow afternoon. But, I will definitely be out there early tomorrow morning, riding locally.

Howdy Dawgs!
I'm chomping at the bit to try some performance upgrades, and I was wondering if anyone knows how much the stock roller weights weigh. I know I could just pop off the cover and check myself, but was wondering if anyone else has "been there, done that" and could recommend sliding weights vs. roller weights, pros and cons of each, etc. Currently waiting for a Binetto 45 liter topcase from CBXMan, and will soon get the MRP pipe and the Givi screen as finances allow. Thanks for the help!
John
BTW: The P250 is doing fine. With the new crank, she's much quieter at highway speeds. Thank God Almighty for a 2 Year Warranty!!!

when I compared the people 250 to the 250S, i wasn't working from experience since the dealer didn't have the plain 250. I just repeated what he told me.
monkey see-monkey do I guess.

took the S250 on a 145 mile ride Labor Day. Have to tell you, on the last 20 miles I got the ass throb. Other than that, with 4 stops for rest and gas, the ride was great and the scoot did great.
My wife followed on her China 150 and I didn't cut her any slac. She was always behind and complaining to me on the radio about her ass and knees and legs. Too bad. I gave her the money for a new people S250 and she gave it back and kept the 150. Too Bad. I think she now wishes she had got one along with me. probably in the spring.
I did the speed limit and she did what she could, NOT MUCH.

My Girlfriend on a 150, crouched down below the dash, throttle about twisted off the bars, engine smokin n screaming trying to catchup to me put putting on a 250 miles ahead.... LMAO! I so wouldn't get any for a good month or better!

Howdy Dawgs!!!
Just passed the 8000km mark (5000miles) on Kym...factor out the month I lost (July) for repairs, and I'm averaging about 500+ km/week...she withstood another ride to Harrisburg (140 miles one way...) and I maintained a GPS average of 63mph on the PA Turnpike (quite hilly in spots...hit GPS 86.3 on a nice downhill!). Most of my friends up that way have the smaller (150 and 200cc) Vespas...my friend's wife rode on the back of Kym while we rode around H-Burg looking for a good eatery. She liked the power, but didn't like the daddy-longlegs seat! All of the Vespazzi (including the GT60 owner in my avatar pic) were intrigued by its styling...it' also much larger than the LX150 and GT200 models...the cell phone charger and cell phone holders got them riled up! "You paid at least a grand less, got more engine, and got something I gotta pay extra for?!?!?"
I changed out the weights (18gm stock) with some 19gm Dr. Pulley sliders and am awaiting a Kevlar belt from Scootertrap. When the topcase arrives, I will be sure to post some pics. As you can tell, I really like this little machine!
Ride Safe!
John

I love my Xciting 250. I only have found one flaw and I would love it if some enterprising company could address it. I hate my speedometer dial. I can not for the life of me read the MPH numbers at a glance. I've figured out were the needle should be on the Metric dial to correspond to the MPH speed limit. This flaw has also messed me up on the speed run on my skills test. I'm not used to going 15 MPH hour for any reason. Haven't got used to wear the needle should be yet. More practice. ;D
Surf
BTW 1700 miles and no problems.

I agree, it's a pain in the keester especially at night. The white KM's are lighted but the red MPH is dark.
here is what you can do:
I put little stick on dots on the KM"S for 25-35-45-55 MPH. At night they show up as black dots and in the day time you can see them OK. all you have to do is remember 2-3-4-5 to be close to that speed.
