I also have a MC-54B. I experienced a fuel starvation problem with heating on full throttle or uphill. I changed fluids using NAPA ANTIFREEZE AND MOTORCYCLE OIL; Synthetic 75-90 gear oil. I replaced the fuel pump with the Mr. Gasket 12S model, available at Autozone, but cheaper if ordered from Amazon.com. I used racing motorcycle fuel lines, 1/4" ID, I had to use a heat gun to install on pump (5/16 fittings). This fixed all problems. The rad and hoses looked top quality. I din't really check the vacumm hoses. I have made two 4o miles rides here in WV with hilly roads and had no problems. I think I need to replace the battery. I have had to get a jump twice and have recharged on several occasions. I plan to get my seat padded and recovered this winter because it has very little padding. I hope your sccot does well. I really like mine.

where would one go to get the padding on the seat redone........ i have an mc 54 honda clone but my seat reminds me of a bicycle as far as the way my butt and you know what esle feels..gets a little numb within 20 miles.. i have a motofino 150 and i have no discomfort at all.. would love to not have to be uncomfortable riding for any distance..i just didnt' know what kind of a place could fix the padding problem.. thought the mc 54 was supposed to have a cushy seat.. it looks plenty cushy but the butt says not no.. i need to stand up at a few lights on most any trip of any moderate length.. anything over 5 miles..

Most any upholstery shop can do it or talk with a cycle shop and ask who they use for seat mods.
