Greetings All,
I'm coming to 1000 miles on my Bali 250, and would like to know what would be the best spark plug to replace the original with. Also, I plan to change the oils again. Should I go with synthetic? Also, can anyone give me advice for setting the fuel mixture on the carb. The motor is the Honda Clone 244cc. It has run very well, and is a blast to ride. No complaints. Plenty of pep. But it's starting to idle a little rough, and time for a little maintenance.
Thanks, Gary

Scooterg; Welcome to the Dawg Pound! Have you checked out Stan Jessup's website? If not, check the link below and read his information on "Touring 250" scoots: www.oregonvintage.com/Scooter.htmlHere is a link to a post I just made yesterday about oils and these scoot engines. Scroll down to the 13th post: scootdawg.proboards59.com/index.cgi?board=talk&action=display&thread=1187140219Have you changed the setting on the idle speed? These engines prefer about double the idle speed RPMs for cars, around 1,500. Not so fast that the clutch engages and the rear wheel turns. Hope this helps.

Gary, I've purchased a couple of plugs that are supposed to provide a much hotter spark (some sort of coil or something), but I've not installed or tested it yet because of some other issues. Here's the plug and POC to contact:
Give us a call to order DP7EA-9; you will need to talk to Tracylee

Scooterollie & Roadster250, Thanks for the reply,
The oil for diesel engines and hard working gas engines, does seem to make more sense. That little 244cc has got to be turning a lot of rev's, especially at higher speeds (60mph +)
Mike: The hotter spark on the sparkplug you mentioned? I'm just wondering what kind of effect it would have on the piston head? I'm just wondering if these chinese engines are made to take the hotter plugs?
Thanks, Scooterg

Based on the recommendations of others on this site, I'm using Shell Rotella T oil in the crancase and Mobil 1 Synthetic in the gearbox. The rotella T is a heavy duty oil for diesel engines; its also cheaper than synthetic.
For spark plug, I just installed an iridium plug purchased from Oregon Vintage. The scoot idles and runs great. I have the CF Moto engine, with 4,000 KM on it.
