I am going to replace the short stock windshield on our Majesty with a cruising type for more wind, bug, debris protection. What I was wondering is if there is anyone with experience with the Yamaha or after market (GIVI, Bailey, etc.) windshields. There is not much difference in price and I would like to know which gives the most protections. I am 5' 10" tall so height is not a real issue but bugs and really hurt the hands at high speeds.

Hey Monty57,
I use the Bell Bicycle riding gloves for the bugs. Hands stay cool, extra pading in the palms, they are fingerless(finger tips cut off). I found them at walmart for about $6 or $7. If they get wet, they dry out quick.

As always, thanks for info guys and gal. I posted this question on another site and the one answer was very negative about the GIVI as well as the factory accessory windshield. He said the he ordered two different GIVI windshield and they both came "cloudy" and he said the factory cruiser windshield caused big to hit his forehead. Seemed like he either got some bad product or he is very hard to please.
Which brings me to why I like this site. More positive, useful information and less B*&%$ing.

Cee Bailey is one of the premier windshield companies, and I have one coming from them to try. Hold off till it arrives and I'll let you know how it works out. I've used them in the past, and their main business is aircraft windshields, so quality is always top notch. Before you order, be sure to measure so you get the correct height for you. In my case, I went 3" taller and stayed with OEM width. Stan As always, thanks for info guys and gal. Stan,
I went to their site and really could not tell about the total profile. I am looking the extra protection out on the edges similar to the OEM Cruiser windsield. Do they make such a profile?

Can't say on this model, but that's why I said hold off and see what mine looks like. I ordered it a couple weeks ago, so it shouldn't be long before it arrives. You can order extra width if that's what you mean, but I stayed with the stock width. I did go with the dark smoke color and 3" added height though.

Well, I finally decided on the Yamaha windshield and ordered it only to be told it was on backorder until 9/19. Imagine my surprise when the UPS man came down the drive Tuesday with a package. A beat up, re-sealed package but a package just the same. It was the cruiser windshield. It looked packed pretty well so I decided to go ahead and install it. It went on without a hitch. When I backed it out of the garage, I noticed some bubbles in the glass toward the lower right hand side. At this point I thought it might be "return" item. They are pretty small and not in the line of sight so I think I will simply complain a bit to the vendor and see if they might refund some cash or give some credit toward future purchases. Either way I don't think they are worth the hassle of removing and returning it.
Anyway the windshield fits and looks good. I have not had a lot of time to do much riding but the short trip I did take take with the new windshield in place seemed to be just what I expected and wanted. It pushes the air up and over my face and helps break the wind from my hands.
I hope to take a longer ride this weekend. So far so good.

Ollie,
Thanks. I took her for about a 40 mile ride tonight and it will take a little to get use to it. The top is just below my line of site and moving my vision down through it causes a little distortion. Kind of weird when you going into a tight turn and leaned in hard. I think my blended lenses don't help much either. It seemed the longer I rode the better it got. I'm sure it will just take a little time and it is great excuse to ride.

Hey Monty57, I use the Bell Bicycle riding gloves for the bugs. Hands stay cool, extra pading in the palms, they are fingerless(finger tips cut off). I found them at walmart for about $6 or $7. If they get wet, they dry out quick. Monty, I know it's still pretty warm in MO, but ScootLizard is right, you really should be wearing gloves. In the event of a crash, you will instinctively try to put your hands down. It's simply natural. As painful as roadrash on your arms/legs/bum is, it's worse on your hands. And dude, if your hands are so scraped up that you can't wipe your backside after answering nature's call, you are in a real bind........ I won't leave home on the bike without gloves, period. I may only have on a short sleeve shirt, but I don't wear shorts on the bike, and I ALWAYS wear gloves. I found out the hard way many years ago as a teen while riding a dirt bike: wear gloves! These are what I wear when it's warm/hot. www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/37/712/ITEM/Olympia-760-Air-Force-Gel-Gloves.aspxHere's another brand of warm/hot weather gloves: www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/37/7009/ITEM/AGV-Sport-Aero-Mesh-2-Gloves.aspxJust offering my $.02 worth. I appreciate your input. I been riding for little over 44 years and have been down on a couple of occasions. I truly understand the need for gloves and do where them most of the time. I where the fingerless gel filled type in the summer and full leather gel filled in the winter.
The bug hitting the hands seem to be my luck when I have taken the occasional short ride in the evening. Also, even with the gloves poor circulation means I want as little cold air hitting my hands now that it is getting cooler as possible.

I have a Majesty, and I am 6'1", so the factory shield is too short for me. I have a Bailey +3" shield for it (stock width), and it does stop the head buffeting for the most part. The Bailey is not quite as thick as the OEM, so I do see a bit more flex when at speed or in strong wind. I also don't think it fits quite as well as the OEM, but overall it is a nice shield. I ordered mine smoked since you never actually look through it, but I did not see any distortion in it. I don't have any experience with the GIVI to say if they are any better or worse.
