Is the Lance Duke 250 the same as a Roketa Bali 250?

No. it is Chinese but a different factory and line. We looked at the Bali 250 but the dealer told us the Lance line is more relizble and a better bike. It is not a Roketa like the Bali.

There is a xxxpowersports member on ebay though, currently nothing for sale but had good feedback.

Well we are scheduled to get them next week so I'll eventually have some pics. No doubt they are Chinese but we were told a different factory from the Bali. XXX and their sister site ScootersFactory has dropped the Roketa line altogether. I was told Roketa may be going belly up and that parts are getting hard to supply.

Yeah that's kind of unique on a Chinese scooter. I thought it was sharp looking.

Except for the two-tone and the shape of the trunk, the scoot is identical to the Viva 250. Looks to be CARB certified as well.

when you get the scoot, post the vin number. I think you will find the dealer stretched the truth. It's made by the same company that makes roketa I think.

Got the scoots in pretty good shape yesterday. Cycle shop assembling and checking them. The VIN on the Duke 250 is L5YTDNPA171133182. The shop was still unpacking and checking them yesterday so I did not get a chance to look at the info on the bikes themselves yet.

Gentlemen and Ladies: Well I finally got the Lance titled and tagged today. I'll let you know how things go with it as time goes by. I plan on taking it to a scooter repair shop tomorrow to look at the mirrors (they don't seem to want to tighten down and stay in place) and get the hand brakes adjusted. Other than that she seems to be running fine just got to get her broken in and get out on the road.

My Duke 250 is great. No problems as of yet. Had it assembled and checked by a bike mechanic. I would really recommend that, unless you are a gopod mech yourself. Runs great and it can really zip. Still in the break in stage. highly recommend the Lance line and this scooter.

Hi. I am thinking about buying this scooter. I live in los angeles, and want to use it for a commute to school. Just a few questions...does it have like a decent storage for holding books and things? How expensive is insurance for a 250 scooter? I signed up for a motorcycle course...Did I need to do that? I am not sure how this works at all. Also, the motorcycle course says I have to have boots and coat and gloves and all this other stuff. I have absolutely no experience with motorcycles or scooters but I signed on to attend a school that's like 30 miles away from me and takes an hour to get there with traffic and I right now drive an expedition. I am mostly interested in cutting down on drive time and expense, but would also like to be able to drive highway speeds.

Cherry - The big question is how much do you have to spend? You can buy a cheap Chinese 250 (like mine) from an internet dealer for aound $2K. These scoots are great for surface streets and some very limited freeway use. But, unless you are very lucky, you are likely to have some sort of quality problems at least at first. These range from electrical problems to cooling problems to fuel delivery problems. Most are pretty easy to fix if you have a few tools and some mechanical ability. I had a lot of problems with my China-scoot initially, but they are all fixed now and I'm pleased as punch with the scoot now.
On the other hand if you want higher quality with likely no mechanical problems and dealer support, you should probably look at a scoot like a Kymco or Honda or Yamaha. These scoots are very reliable and can handle freeway driving OK. But, be prepared to pay more in the $4K to $5K range for one of these, at least for a new scoot.
There are some choices in between. Just remeber you usually get what you pay for.
Gary
PS: I have an Expedition to. It sits in the garage most of the time now. I just love the fact that I now fill up the scooter once a week for $6, instead of the SUV for $75. Good luck.

;DThe Lance Duke 250 is a pretty good Chinese scoot. They come from one of the better export type factories in China (often marketed as Zhen or Zhogneng). My Duke is pretty good and has had no major issues yet, however, I am in the break in stage yet. If you plan to ride the highways I strongly recommend a course, or at least study the MSF website and download and study their booklets. A class would be better. Riding gear and apparel is essential for safety if you are serious about using your scoot on the road, but you need not overspend. Shop around. A larger scoot (250) is good for highway travel if you are a well trained rider and know your laws and safety protocol. Strongly suggest you have a local mechanic or bike shop willing to work on your scoot if you go Chinese and not a dealer such as Yamaha or Honda or one of the other main line manufactuers like Kymco or QLink. I was lucky enough to find a local Harley shop down the road from us that agreed to be our mechanics. Sadly I am not very mechanically inclined. A good general book is The Complete Idiots Guide to Scooters. It can really educate you about all kinds of general and specific scooter info. A decent Chinese scoot worthy of the highway will probably go you 2000 and up (may vary). The big boys like Yamaha, Honda etc are going to hit you for 4000 and up. We could write all day about all the choices and pros and cons. Gary is right, shop around a lot, think about how serious you are, and what the price says is usually a good measure of the bike you get. Good luck and let us know what you decide.
Oh yeah: The Duke has pretty large under seat storage. No glove box, but mine came with a pretty good size, albeit cheap, trunk.
