Thank's for the reply. Question will the yamaha and suzuki have alot more power than the ss300? Kind of on a budjet and the 300 is about 2500 to the door .From what I have read the strada would be the most dependable. And the biggest of the 2. I'm going to the local motorcycle shop to check out the yamaha and suzuki, I saw the reflex but they where asking 4400.00 for a 06. I really like the silver wing.$$$ is the issue. Thanks.

Rattler316: Give me a few days and I can give you a "First Impressions" review of the SS300/Mainstreet. I did see one in person a couple of weeks ago and was pleased with the "look" of quality, as far as materials and exterior fit-n-finish. Can't say about under the skin and the mechanicals. Stan Jessup seems to like the Linhai/Yamaha engine and drive train. He has a scoot with the CFMoto 250 (244 CCs) and one with the Linhai 250 (257 CCs).
The other two, more expensive scoots, are 400 CCs, I believe. They will be more sophisticated with fuel injection and more powerful. The Linhai 300 (seen variously listed as 275-279 CCs) is listed at 22 HP, maybe 5+ more than the CFMoto 250. The Roketa MC-54 is available with either the CFMoto or Linhai (257 CC) drive train. The SS300 has a wheel base a little over 60" as does the MC-54 - these should be good cruisers but not as nimble to throw around in traffic and tight spaces.
Even with the best deal on a new Honda, Suzuki or Yamaha, as you indicated, there is still a considerable difference in price, like double +. I admire all of the high end scoots in the 400 + CC range but, for myself, can't justify the price difference. Probably will ride around 1.5K miles/year, for pleasure only. With what I have been able to scope out over the past year, the SS300 may fit the bill as being a step up in quality, since it was originally targeted to the $3.5K price range. Still many dealers around listing this scoot for that price.

Having just taken delivery on a Yamaha Majesty it is a Dual Overhead Cam engine with fuel injection and plenty of power. The '07 list for $5799.00 and most dealers will not bargain on the price and they want to add the "set up and handling" charge which can take them well over $6500. If you are untested in one keep searching the local dealers. There is usually one that is willing to be reasonable and offer a discount. The dealer I found was willing to include the trunk, mount kit and backrest pad plus a discounted the price $100 with no bogus added charges accept a $65.00 Title and registration fee.
All that being said there are still very good bargains out there on Chinese scoots. I had good luck with mine but it only fired the desire to have a scoot that was comfortable at Interstate speeds. If I did not live where I do which makes it hard to get anywhere without going on the interstate I would have stuck with Roadrunner. For the most part mine was a very good scooter. I did not have many of the issues many of the scooter have encounter. My only real complaints was the rattles and noise created and amplified by the body mounts and panels.
I did a little research on the unit scooterollie is talking about and it is a nice step up from the normal 250 CF Moto touring scoots.

I also have a YP400 Majesty and you'll love it. The winshield is too short for me, but replacement taller screens are easy to come by for around $130. They are awesome machines. I won't say what I paid for it because it would really piss off the Kymco owners. ;D Stan Having just taken delivery on a Yamaha Majesty it is a Dual Overhead Cam engine with fuel injection and plenty of power. Thanks. here is something you may want to ask the dealers. see if they have a new late model scoot (2006). some dealers will drop a little to get those out the door quicker. I bought a new 2006 majesty in May of this year and the dealer knocked off $600 on the retail price. they also had a finance special on that model as well. It took me 2 phone calls and 15 minutes to purchase the scoot from the Yamaha dealer. As for power, it has it, I can pass 60mph traffic with no problem. I have put 2500 miles on it since mid May and not one mechanical hiccup at all. Another reason I got the Majesty is for long haul trips(300+ miles a day), it can do interstate speed and then some and is very comfortable to ride long distance.
