Have finally got scoot running good. Took it out for 35 mile run today at not any great speed. Still breaking it in. When doing post-ride check noticed belt cover was pretty warm. Just wondering if this is normal. I realize there is a lot of friction in there.

I am not sure what you mean by "pretty warm". Mine reaches the temp of dishes out of the dishwasher right after the dry cycle. You can touch it, but not for long.

Terr; What is your scoot type? The smaller displacement scoots seem to run hotter in the CVT area. The cover will get anywhere from uncomfortably warm to burn your hand hot. Not unusual. There is a lot of friction generated in that area what with the pulleys changing sizes and the belt being forced up and down in the grooves, not to mention the heat generated just by flexing and rotation of the belt.

Thanks guys for the replys. The cover was just a little over warm. You could keep your hand on it without discomfort. The scoot is a MC 54.

Stan Jessup believes the belts on the larger scoots run cooler and thus will last longer. If it is only somewhat warm, don't worry about it. My Bali 250 with the CFMoto engine/CVT has 2.2K Kms on it and the belt looks like new - no heat deterioration and only a small amount of dust caused by wear.
