I know I have read some where on the forum about having the fan on radiator run all the time, but I can't fine it.
My fan on my MC-54 250 will stay off until the gauge go a little above the 1/4 mark, then the fan will come on, and stay on, the needle will fall to just above the C for cold on gauge, but the fan will not turn off.
No matter how many miles I drive, the fan will still be on. When I stop and turn the key off the fan will shut off, if I leave the key on the fan will run for about 1 minute then shut down on it own.
I have reached my hand on to the hoses by radiator and engine, and they are warm but not hot like you would think they would be, like on a car. I know I can hold onto the hoses with my hand and it will not burn me.
What I'am thinking is that the sending unit that turns the fan on is at fault. There are two small units on system, one on bottom of radiator with two wire hookup, and one on engine with one wire hookup. Which one is the fan sending unit?
Any one else have a thought on this?, or is it something else altogether?

I don't know that this is much of problem. Most of the time the switch doesn't turn the fan often or soon enough or not at all. I do believe the sending unit for the fan is the one in the radiator and one on the engine is for the gauge. Hopefully someone will confirm this as I am not totally positive.

I would say that it's working properly. The bike is kept cool, it shuts off after a minute when the bike is turned off so it's doing the job. I would leave it alone. There are others here that wish their fans were so efficient.

OK thank guys for the input. I didn't want to ruin anything that I could help now. At lease it is running cool, as long as it don't discharge the battery.

Just something you might want to keep in mind. The engine is supposed to run at a certain temp. I helps to keep sludge and gunk out. With new oils this might not be a problem. It sounds like you temp switch might be defective and coming on to soon. Now that mine is working it does keep the temp at about the middle mark and it does cycle on and off. If you find a for-sure answer post it. We need all the help we can get with these scoots.

I really don't think the fan should run continuously. On most all of the water cooled Chinese scoots here, the fan will begin to cycle on-off-on, etc., after the coolant reaches the prescribed temp., as determined by the sensor.
Since the MC-54 is new to us this year, we need more feed back from other MC-54 owners. If yours has the CFMoto/Honda engine and the same basic cooling system of other CFMoto-powered 250s, I believe the fan should cycle. My Bali 250 has always cycled and I know many others have commented the same.

Our MC-54 cycles when it idles. But it is mostly on when idling. I notice that the fan turns on when the thermostat opens. Not sure what happens when I ride it. I wouldn't worry about the engine running too cool. The engine temp is controlled by the thermostat, not the fan. As far as I see, the switch that controls the fan is on the radiator and the temperature gauge sensor is on the engine. Our temperature runs just below the 1/4 mark. However, the calilbration of the gauge could be quite different from scoot to scoot. Bryce

My 1986 Kawasaki 454ltd does the same with the fan, as does my People 250. When the temperature reaches toward the H end, the fan will kick on until the temp gauge is somewhere below halfway. With the kawasaki, you can actually hear the fan running if you turn the bike off, it's so loud. But the P250, you can't even tell when it kicks on.

If it isn't broke dont fix it. Bikes don't have climate control systems or defrosters so theres no reason for it to run hotter. Countless bikes like these are plagued with overheating and warped head issues because their fans don't run as they should. even if it does run all the time and eventually does burn out, that's so easily and inexpensively fixed, so I wouldn't mess with it.
