Well we're back from vacation. Did not do as much riding as I thought I would get to do but did take a couple trips to the store and one long highway ride. For the most part everything went well. My wife has informed me she no longer feels safe in traffic on two wheels. So much for the long rides with her.
On the long ride I did develop some noise that seems to be coming from the front of the scoot. It sounds like something "knocking" or "thumping" but I cannot find anything loose. I sent PMs to a couple of members asking if they have heard of any bearing issues but I received only one reply and he did not think it was the issue. I have always had some rattles but this seems different. I have checked the axle bolts, breaks body parts, etc. and nothing appears to be wrong.
If there are any other Roadrunner owners owners out there I would like to know if you hear noises from the front end. This is the first two wheeled anything that I have owned with sealed bearings in the front end and these noises may be normal. Any input would be appreciated.

Well, did some more investigating and found some rocks in the belly pan. That got rid of the knocking but it still seems to be louder in the front end than it was. One of the things I found when I first got the scoot was a poor fit to the front cowl mounting bracket and a broken mounting hole. I added some large fender washers to make for a tighter fit and have recently tighten them. I wonder, could this be causing the front cowl to resonate more of the wheel noise through the body??? or am I just being paranoid about the noise?

Monty, Being paranoid about noises is not a bad thing. A change in how your scooter souds can mean impending disaster.
I've done a couple of things that have helped cut down soume of the sounds: 1. Put electrical or duct tape betwen some of the mating plastic pieces 2. Applied silicone rubber to mating parts to act as a cushion and dampen sounds.
But then, you're getting a Honda, so you won't have to worry about this any more....

Well, not exactly. As you will see in another post. I was a day late. I called today to set up the purchase and he informed he sold it yesterday. Close but no cigar!
I appreciate the info on the noise. It looks like I will have the RR for a little longer.
