Found a 2003 Reflex with 3049 miles on it. For sale at $ 2,600. has some serious scratches on it and corrosion on the iron work at the wheels and underbelly frame. From sitting in storage I think.
I would have to put around $ 400 in it for some service work and tires. Thinking about offering $ 2,100.00
any comments appreciated.

I'm about to go look at one, too. It's a '96 and he's asking $2,800 which seems pretty high to me. But still going to go look at it

Wow, went and took a look at the Helix. He was asking $2800 but he said he'd like to get $2300 for it. He was quite honest about the problems, he bought it needing a front end, and when he put it on, it didn't quite fit correctly. He let me test drive it and it vibrated very badly at low speeds. Once up to 20 mph, it smoothed out very nicely. The engine was also really loud compared to my Piaggio. It had a nice loud putt putt sound, sort of like a baby Harley Are the old Honda 250 engines that loud? The steering also seemed a bit off. Too bad that it needs work, that had to be the most comfortable seat I have ever sat on.

Well since everyone is looking at used Relfexes, I'll run this one up to get thoughts. One of my clients has a red '02 Reflex he bought new. It currently has 452 miles on it and has been sitting in his office since he quit riding it. To say it looks new is an understatement. I had never given it much thought until I got interested in scooters with the acquisition of and Veruci in a trade and the purchase of our RR 250 TLX. I started talking to him about it one day and he said he wanted to sell it. When I ask the price, he said $3000.00. Before I left I asked if that was his bottom dollar and he said he would take $2500.00. Several weeks went past and I happen to be by his office again and asked about the scooter. He said he had not sold and why had I not bought from him. I told him my wife did not want me to put more than $2000.00 in another "toy". He said he would meet me half way at $2250.00. That's been a month ago. I am going up there again this week but I haven't convinced the little woman what a bargain this is. She thinks I won't be able to sell our old ones. I am sure it will need a battery and probably will need the carb and fuel system cleaned but other than that I can't imagine anything else being wrong with it since it has sat inside at a constant temperature for the last several years. Any thoughts?

From what I have seen, that's a good price. Seriously, the seat on the Helix is worth half what he's asking

Monty,
IMHO, $2250 is a bargain for an '02 Reflex with only 452 miles on it. Heck, it isn't even broken in yet!

That's what I thought too. I just told her I am going to by it and she didn't threaten a divorce so I will taking a trailer on this business trip and hopefully he hasn't sold it yet.

What a man! ;D Tell her that it's a lot more reliable than the RR, and you would feel better with her riding a more reliable scoot.......

Well, she must be working some kind of Voodoo. I called to make the appointment to pick up the scoot and he said he sold it yesterday. Day late and dollar short. On with the search.

Well, I am still looking and l have found not one but two '01 Honda Reflex's about 50 miles from my house. Both for sale by the same guy (his and hers). A silver one with 9600 miles and a red one with 8400 miles. Both are very, very clean. They have been tuned up and new batteries this spring. He has purchased two Silverwings. He is asking a very firm $3000 each. I think that is a fair a price for the year and the condition but........... I am also looking at a new Majesty. I could almost buy both of the Honda's for the price of the Majesty since I am wanting the trunk and backrest option even with the dealers is willingness to throw in the options and still discount about $100.
One of my current issues with my RR 250 TLX is highway speed and weight. The guys claims 80 to 85 mph top end on the Honda's. Since no one publishes top end specs does anyone really know what you could expect. Not that I want to go that speed, but I want a comfortable cruise of at least 70 since I live in a pretty rural area and need to get on the interstate to get to most places I want to ride and with my RR, that is almost wide open and it doesn't feel real steady at the speed with passing cars.
Any first hand Honda Reflex experience out there?

I found a used one as well, the upside is its still under extended warranty, the downside is its about 5 hours away by car, and while I like the idea of riding it back (I'd get there by bus) I don't think I want to make that the first time I am on any bike on a public road. Too far too long. Its got 2700 miles on it.
Oh and it's yellow. Ugh.

Yellow is good. At least I always notice yellow bikes far very quickly and find myself really looking at them more than other color bikes. It's not that I like yellow bikes... I think bright yellow motorbikes and scooters are a bit obnoxious. But if I was able to choose I think I'd pick yellow. My wife says she always finds herself looking at the yellow bikes too... especially those with a good expanse of body panels and yellow accessories.

Make sure the scoots that are rusty aren't hurricane Katrina victims. I've ran across that already (in Oklahoma). You never know when that will come back to haunt you.

Oh there's definitely something to be said for having a color that does not blend with the scenery. Though I would add I would find it far less obnoxious than a loud exhaust system. From the front a yellow Reflex would look like a wasp. Perhaps it instills some fear of being stung.
