I just joined yesterday and have been reading posts ever since. I talked to John at Valley Scooters. I like the Strada SS300 but the windshield is too small. I tried to call John back but can't get through. Can anyone tell me if there is an after market windshield I can get for this scooter?

I also was looking at Strada SS300 before i decided on the MC-54. When I talked to John from Valley Scooters about the small windshield, he told me a larger one ran about $100 bucks. Check out Scootertronics, on the bottom of page they show a video of a Super Strada SS 300 with a larger windshield.

Givi makes optional windshields, but they do not seem to have one specific to this model. They have a number of windshields that are general fitting. You may need to go that route because there's a chance even the taller Strada windshield may not be tall enough.

ScooterTronics told me that the "larger" windshield was only slightly taller than the stock one. The Strada 300 sounds very interesting but has not sold in high numbers. It started out around $3,800 at some dealers last year. At it's current price it seems to be a bargain for a larger engined scoot. Supposedly it is built by Linhai and is of good quality. I do like that it has the taller 12" tires.

Maybe before deciding the windshield is "too small" you should ride it and see if it is too big, too small or just right. Windshields are pretty subjective things but for most, they are only designed to be a wind deflector and to help the scoot move through the air. They aren't intended to make a car windshield for you to hide behind and look through.
I think there is much more to a scooter buying choice than a single item like the windshield, especially if you're only looking at pictures on the internet. I took a look at that Strada myself this year and it would have been my choice except that I decided to wait until next year before moving up.

Looked at an SS300 yesterday at Scootertronics and discussed the windscreen with Tommy. They are shorter than the usual stock offering, such as the Bali/Tank Touring 250. As I mentioned above, their taller replacement is only an inch or two taller. As Natefromogden said, there are other factors to consider. The stock windshield on my Bali deflects air from my neck down so even with that windshield my helmet still is hit with a blast.
By the way, the SS300 is one sharp scooter! One I saw was in blue and looked great. Fit-n-finish was excellent. Not saying it is in KYMCO territory but definitely a good step above the Roketa models I am familiar with. Seems they are selling better this year after the price reduction but still go for a good bit more than the typical 250.

At around $600 difference, it would be well worth it to get the Linhai engine (at least to me) and if the quality control is better, they would be a bargain over the XXXX brand 250 with the CFMoto power plant. Stan/others: Does anyone know of any scooters with with the Linhai engine that are also CARB certified? Like others, I'm drooling over the SS300, but don't believe its certified for California.
Thanks! Gary

AFAIK, all SS300s are '06 models. None imported as '07 models. Never did pay attention as to whether or not they are CARB certified as I live in a state not requiring that certification. You are probably right about not being CARB certified.
Also, these are made by Linhai and in the Linhai brand line are known as the "Main Street" 260 & 300 models. The box at Scootertronics actually said "Linhai Main Street" on it.

Just an FYI .... There is an "E-Bay Dealer" (Beaufortmotorsports) running an Ebay auction right now claiming to have 300 of the Linhai Main Street 300cc scoots available. His asking price (Buy-it-now) is $3495 but the highest bid thus far is only $1495 with 20 hours to go.
I don't know the business side of scoots that well but I'm curious if that 300 in stock machines isn't a bit exaggerated ?

Don't buy into the wheel size hype. The 10" rear wheel on my TT250 has a total tire diameter that is less than an inch under the tire total diameter of my RR250 with 13" wheels. The trick is they just use lower profile tires which don't ride as smooth as those with more sidewall. Now, if they also improve the suspension, they could handle better than the taller tire in corners, but we're talking about Chinese scooters here, so that isn't really the case. His reserve is $2695 which is the same price he has on his web site. He appears to be using eBay as his method of advertising. Why would you even consider buying from an eBay "dealer" when you could get a Strada SS300 from John at Valley Scooters or a Bandit from Jim for the same money and know who you are dealing with? I don't get it....... Some folks just don't want to learn and they will buy from these guys on eBay. Stan Just an FYI .... Stan,
Trust me, I share your opinion of most WEB sites as far as actually buying a scoot from them. There are, of course exceptions, but a quick check of the reputable boards will give a guy a pretty good idea of who to trust. I bought my scoot in June from a local dealer after educating myself on the web and assessing the risks of buying there. And, of all the web sites, Ebay is probably the last place I'd buy a new scoot.
I just posted that info as an FYI, assuming the majority of folk on this board had some common sense and wouldn't go jumping on the deal.
By the way, when I speak of a reluctance to buy from a web dealer, that doesn't include your fine site. I figure early next month I'll have enough miles on the scoot to think about a Kevlar belt and slides rather than rollers upgrade. I'd really rather not hit the 3000km mark with a roadside belt replacement in celebration.
Thanks for being our resident board guru.
Dave

Just ordered a red Strada SS300/Linhai Mainstreet from John at Valley Scooters yesterday. Both front and rear wheels are 12": F= 110/90X12, R=130/90X12. These are not the low profile tires and I am not familiar with that size compared to the 4:00X12 that is on my Bali 250. The 4:00 is definitely high profile and at least 1" taller than the low profile 13" tires. I think I prefer the 110-130/90X12 to the low profile 13" versions being used on some of the new 250s, for reasons stated by Stan.
Earlier this year I believe I was told that the Strada 300s had been imported by PSF and available only as long as the supply lasts, since they are all '06 models. Now it seems they are being "freshly" imported - still '06 models - from another source as PSF isn't bringing them this year. Apparently, with the new price of $2.7 - $3K they are now selling reasonably well. Some places are still listing them at $3.5+K! Wonder how long they can continue to be imported as '06 models? Does this get them by new EPA regs?

Yes we have both the Strada and the Main Street version of these bikes available. Keep in mind also that the new MC54 from Roketa is using the Linhai Yamaha engines also. John Valley Scooters
