I'm looking into getting my first scooter. I've decided to go with a kymco xciting model, but can't decide if I should go with a 250 or 500. My main use is cheap transportation back and forth to work (probably 50-60 miles round trip). The trip consists mainly of country roads (55mph), but I also could use a tollway for part of the trip if I wanted to. In discussing this with my fiance, she informed me that she's interested in riding along on the occasional cruise. I'm about 6' 185. What do you guys think I should go with. Will the 250 be more than enough for my uses, or is the extra money to step up to the 500 justified? Also any ideas how much worse the gas mileage would be goin to a 500? Thanks for any thoughts and advice.
Nate

Based on what you said, go for the XCiting 500. As you are wanting to ride on the freeways sometime. Plus two up as well.

For two up on restricted access hiways ... definately go for the 500.

Nate, go right for the 500 buddy, and don't look back. It will have all of the power you need for the 2up, and still not be lacking. I am 6' and 270lbs, and my X500 moves out without hesitation. I really don't pay much attention to mileage right now. It is much better than my car or van, and thats all that matters to me. Let us know what you do buddy. Tom

There is no substitute for cubic inches. The engine will not have to work as hard and will probably give a much longer service life. Having the extra power when you need won't be a bad thing either.

Dittos to what these dawgs have said. I'm happy with my 250, but in hindsight, I think the 500 would have been well worth the extra 1,000.
