Looking at a Roketa MC-54. price is $ 2,200.00 out the door. My concern is this:
Presently been burnt on my 150 over quality. Things like bad clutch-bad brakes-bag belt and rollers-now a bad oil leak just to mention a few. I had enough. Is the Roketa a good quality 250 scoot ?
Diamo 250 at the same dealer for $ 3,200.00. How about them. ?

Diamo is a better scoot with a real warranty and guaranteed parts availability. Seriously though Twister if you are considering $3200 you are gettin so close to a Kymco, SYM, Daelim, Or could buy a used Reflex, Helix, ect. Just think about it that's all.

Twister;
Not pushing the Roketa but call John at Valley Scooters. He seems well pleased with this scoot.
ACD is correct. If you are going over $3k, consider one of the better reputation scoots. Might also ask John about the Strada SS300 Linhai/Yamaha. He is now selling this for $2,700 and thinks highly of it.

A mechanic I'm not. I have to have a dealer for service. The Diamo he has is the 300 CC and i though that was a good price. Yamaha engine and drive train. Jap belts and carb and all that stuff.
The Roketa sat well-looked good and sounded like a power house. It's got honda engine and drive train so the dealer says.

I believe the Roketa has a CF-Moto 250 which is a Honda clone. Far from being a Honda engine. That being said, I have the same engine on my scoot and have been pleased. Just don't expect Honda quality or you will be in for huge let down. These are scooters costing 1/3 the price of a similar Honda. They are a good value but you get what you pay for.
Do yourself a favor and read a little more on these type forums to get a better understanding of what you are buying before you make your final decision. There are a lot of people very happy with their Chinese scoots but you need to go into the purchase of these products with your eyes open and knowing your ability to deal with mechanical issues. Since you say you are not a mechanic you may want to put a little more money out up front and go for Japanese scoot. You may save yourself some headaches.

The new 2007 MC-54 Roketa touring machines have the Yamaha based (clone) 257cc engine. If you look at www.scootersus.com/roketascooters.html you will see the new 260cc engine mentioned on the main Roketa page. However if you click on the specific page it still has the old specs with 250cc engine listed.

Hi everyone, There is yet another new Roketa BALI/WM 250 which I just purchased for close to $2000.00. Displacement 249.8ml, Max horsepower 12kw/8500, torque 17.6/6500. Bore stroke 2.83,2.36 inches. Max speed 110km/h. Since I did not put my variator fan over the splines of the crankshaft and basically ruined my new bali (under 50 mi) I said what the hell, I'll die in debt. I love scootering. This site looks very reputable (supposedly owned by vets)but, as far as I can see the only site selling these roketa bali/WM. You donot need a mechanic to assemble your trunk and mirrors for the 6mo warranty to be valid. The site is countyimports.com

I see the new Roketa listed as the MC-54-250B with the "Yamaha" engine and the MC-54 as the "Honda" engine. I think the confusion is that the main page shows the "Honda" engine as 260cc. Here's the Roketa main page www.roketa.com/product/productlist/2610.shtml

Be careful using the Yamaha name unless it's actually branded as such. I think using the term Linhai clone is much safer than advertising the Yamaha name. However, this engine will give the CFMoto a run for their money if the scooter itself is well built and Roketa can supply parts and support for the end user. The MC-54 appears to use the YP250 body style which I also prefer over the common Touring body used with the CFMoto. Not having disassembled this body type, I can't say if they are better to work on or service, but the engine is.
