i have the new People 250..
the engine is nice.. not broken in yet... much stronger than the scarabeo 150... of course..
but it makes a funny growling noise under acceleration... does anybody else have this sound? well when not accelerating it sound quiet... but when i hit hard.. it makes a sound like the head is hitting the top of the housing.. like some growling humming noise.. weird..
maybe it is normal... don't know?
it rides nice.. a tad bit firm.. i am hoping it softens up a bit.. for i feel about every bump in the road... quit different from my scarabeo 150..
also i have checked the tire pressure.. it is 31 pounds.. just rght..
anybody else feel this way about your People 250?
thanks phamster

engine noise is not the engine. It's the variator.

Mine makes a weird raspy growling sound under hard(er) acceleration. The shop that I bought it from says that is a common Kymco 250 sound.
I just got back from my first 60 mile trip. It did absolutely fine, I love my Kymco People 250. At an indicated 60-65 mph, I was at maybe 20% throttle.

Phamster....I've been reviewing some past posts and see that you have your tires at 31 psi while my Owner's Manual calls for 1.75 kg/sq.cm for one person and 2.00 kg/sq.cm for two people. The conversion factor is 14.22 psi per kg/sq.cm. which gives 25 psi for one person and 28.5 psi for two people. Isn't 31 psi a bit high?

Phamster:
Someone else on the forum had a noise similar to yours...he said it was "like a blender chopping up icecubes"...mine sounds the same...it is the variator. It's annoying, but not dire. I changed out my roller weights with some Dr. Pulley sliding weights...still the same noise.

I have a 2006 B&W 250 and get a mettalic tinkling-sounding noise at slow speeds after warm up. It seems to go away on acceleration or at speeds above about 20 mph. I suspect that it's just variator/clutch noise that isn't really a big concern. I have about 4300 km on the scoot. Does any one have similar experience?

It is difficult to diagnose from the written description of a sound. What one person thinks is abnormal may be accepted as normal by another. Six different folks may describe the same sound six different ways. Sure can be frustrating. My CFMoto 250 started making a type of rattling sound while pulling away from a stop. Sounded like it was coming from the rear (clutch) area under the CVT cover. Took the cover off this Spring (2100 Kms) for inspection. Belt was in great shape with only moderate belt dust. Used the compressor to blow belt dust from the variator and clutch. Small amount came from each. Put everything back together - no noise! Have only put another 150 Kms on the scoot since but noise has not returned.

Now, what to do, what to do. ear plugs i guess.
