Inspired by " lewtwo" and " johnnyscoots" pending big bore upgrade on their People 250, I did some searching. It looks like there is a 287cc big bore kit available for the Yamaha YP250 Majesty from Polini and Malossi. As I stated in a previous post, this engine was used in a number of scoots: APRILIA: LEONARDO 250 - LEONARDO 300 BENELLI: VELVET 250 ITALJET: JUPITER/MILLENIUM 250 MALAGUTI: MADISON 250 - PASSWORD 250 MBK: KILIBRE 300 - SKYLINER 250 (rebadged Yamaha in France )RENAULT: KOURANOS 250 (who knew they make scoots)YAMAHA: MAJESTY 250 MOD. 1999 - MAJESTY 250 MOD. 2000 - VERSITY 300 - X MAX 250 - XC 300 (well of course)What is interesting, but not necessarily suprising is on the Polini site it also mentions Linhai: LINHAI: ATV 260 I would like to think this is the same engine as in the RR Race 250, Bandit UC-250z and similar Linhai powered scoots. Polini: uk.catalogo.polini.it/en/pagina_710.69.htmlmatching variator uk.catalogo.polini.it/en/pagina_724.400.htmlMalossi, by method of deductions if the Polini kit works so should this: www.malossi.com/Catalogo/Cata_Main.asp?Marca=300&Modello=MO/YAMA250&Famiglia=0&CodArt=31%209578Question: Could anybody confirm whether this kit could work on the Linhai 257cc? Who would consider doing this? Any of you Race, Bandit or Strada owners out there? Hmmm .... a Road Runner Race 300 ...... Andi

Andi, ANSWER: We're going to get and install one of the 290cc kits from Taiwan for the Yamaha YP-250. I'm not 100% sure if the Polini or Malossi specific kits would work with our Linhai 260, but am pretty sure just the same. The difference between the Linhai 257cc and the old Yamaha YP250 249cc engine is 1mm bigger on the bore. Everything else is identical. That's why we're trying the kit from Taiwan. About the only thing I'd wonder about on your kit is the reference to the YP250 1999 Mod. Our Linhai 260 is based on the YP250 from 1996 to 1999. There was a modification to the bike in 1999 and I'm not sure what it was... Otherwise Andi, we'll let you know what we come up with on our kit. Be prepared to remove and dismantle your engine though... ( - ; Thanks, Jim J... Bandit MotorSports www.bandit-motorsports.com

Hmmm, does this kit explain the Diamo Turista 300? I kinda like the styling on that, but was wondering how they came up with a 300, the only Chinese scooter I've seen with that size.

I certainly would like to hear your take on it, I gather you will be installing it on you personal scoot? If satisfied will you be offering the kit? Do you have any preliminary expectations on performance gains? BTW love the XC-150z, my Dual Sport is jealous already. Andi
